They won't wait as long as people think to go back to making the Boruto anime, Boruto anime is a huge cashcow for Studio Pierrot, Shueisha, TV Tokyo, etc.
The anime went on break for three primary reasons:
    1. The anime got way too close to the manga, when the anime went on hiatus the manga was literally in the middle of the Prophecy Arc, so like, the anime was only probably 6-7 episodes worth of content behind, and there wouldn't have been a cohesive way to write in anime canon arcs to fill the gap there unless it was like, a whole 30 episode arc revolving around Boruto and Kawaki living with Ada and Daemon lmao
    2. Production issues post-covid, particularly with Studio Pierrot stretching themselves thin with Black Clover and then Bleach TYBW and all their other projects.
    3. The key/senior animators that worked on the best episodes of Boruto like 65, 135, and 189 all went to work on Bleach TYBW, Bleach is now in its last cour so I'd expect them to come back to working on Boruto after.
Studio Pierrot is announcing their future plans for 2025 and beyond in March, I would expect the 4 Naruto episodes to come in late 2025 and then Boruto to return shortly after no later than early 2026.
Also, even if Boruto goes seasonal it'll still probably have some anime canon mixed in because the manga does leave a lot of loose ends that the anime has a chance to expand on and they've been doing that pretty consistently so even if we don't get back to weekly releases I would still expect them to pad out episode counts by showing us things like Boruto training more with Sasuke and Koji, the full version of their fight vs. Code, the reactions to Naruto's supposed death among villagers and outside of the Leaf, a Five Kage Summit, Boruto being listed in the bingo book, Sakura and Kakashi's reactions to Sasuke going rogue again, etc. There is so many questions left unanswered, and the anime has always been better about the worldbuilding and side cast so I would expect the anime to show more of this kinda stuff.

Loving the manga. I'm totally fine with them kicking it back into gear in 2027 if it means no more godawful "anime canon" and filler; however, if they go seasonal like I strongly believe they're going to thanks to the success Pierrot's getting with TYBW, Boruto's returning in 2026

The anime canon isn't "God awful" most of it is actually pretty good and helps with the worldbuilding and character development, especially for characters like Sarada and Mitsuki who are relatiely one-dimensional characters in the manga, the anime actually breathes some life into the side cast AND in addition to that, helped build and develop Boruto and Kawaki as characters. It's not an understatement to say that the anime is objectively the better way to consume Boruto, people only read the manga because they want to keep up with what's happening but the anime is objectively WAY bigger when it's peaked, you just had to be there for moments like Jogan Boruto vs. Urashiki, but you wouldn't know anything about that since you think the anime is "God awful" when it's profits on TV Tokyo beg to fucking differ lmao

@Borchert97 We simply have different tastes in quality. I understand the importance of world-building and character development, but imo actual quality anime canon is few and far between. If they gut the unimportant anime canon and filler and go seasonal, I doubt too many people will actually miss Chocho and the other throw-away characters and forgettable plotlines. I wanted to like the anime, but it's not the badass ninja anime I thought it'd be. I'm looking forward to the anime going seasonal because the manga has definitely been more focused, and higher quality overall and I hope Pierrot puts some respect on the anime with TYBW-level production. Don't get hung up on the godawful part. It's just a disappointing anime for me. To each their own
