  • Jeffrey Gorman, JJ Stankevitz and Larra Overton look at why the Colts are counting on players like Jonathan Taylor, Kwity Paye and their cornerbacks to improve to power a playoff push in 2024. Larra also chats with The Athletic's Jourdan Rodrigue, who wrote a fantastic feature story on Laiatu Latu in February, to get some insight into the Colts' first-round draft pick.

    Thank you for the offseason content, I appreciate what the Colts media team does during these offseason periods where there isn't much going on until training camp.

    AP is overly disrespected but his game is pivotal to our future

      It felt like he was open down field with a 15 yard cushion for an easy TD twice a game, and Gardner almost never saw him. Sure, he doesn't have insane separation on cuts, but he can book it in a straight line. I'm hoping AR can get him more touches. Also, he's probably the best and most willing blocking WR on the team, which is a massive asset with JT.

      Ive watched so much tape and he was open deep alot last season but Minshew didn't have the arm to get him the ball... Richardson isn't going to have that problem...

      It's the casual fans that hate on Pierce... he was drafted to be a deep threat and just hasn't had the QB with the arm to utilize him... I think he's going to surprise a ton of people this season...

    The Official Colts podcast: “AP is one of the best deep ball WR’s in the league, Kwity is a great player”

    I like that we have Pierce and Mitchell... they both bring different things that will help this offense with Richardson throwing them the ball... Pierce hasn't had the QB that can hit him deep... he almost always comes down with 50/50 balls and gets a huge PI call every game... he's also a pitbull in the running game...

    One would think that being "official" this pod could chop up film without copyright consequences from the NFL. That would be an addition that would set it apart from the pack. As it stands, it is handicapped by some sort of unwritten "speak no ill of a Colt" rule that comes off like a three-person roundtable on the May weather in Indianapolis.

    • @carrite
      @carrite Месяц назад +1

      .....Specifically, you say "Alec Pierce is going to be very important to the Colts this year," and that might be the case even though the consensus of pundits and experts is that he does not have the speed and/or the route moves to create separation - backed up by the evidence that the GM and the scouting department made getting more speed at wide out Job No. 1 in this draft. And they just resigned Pittman for big bucks and it ain't a slot receiver problem so who is it?
      You could, for example, have a film package put together that shows here, here, and here are where Pierce was open but Gardner Minshew missed him because he didn't see him or was locked on the wrong target or was running for his life. And you could show there, there, and there where great defensive plays broke up otherwise great routes that would have went otherwise for big gains. And you could this and that where Pierce ran the big route and made the big grab with good results.
      But at this point it seems to me that "Alec Pierce is going to be very important to the Colts this year" is sort of like saying "Ashton Dulin is going to be very important to the Colts this year," because injuries happen and depth is good. Both these things are equally true, it seems to me.

    • @M98747

      Jalani was my #1 TE in that draft, but he's worrying me with his health. I actually loved Mallory and always drafted him in my mocks last year, so we've got two TEs that I really wanted. I think Mallory has a huge ceiling, but you don't want him to block right now. We need to move MAC if any of these guys are going to get touches.

      @JJStankevitz I ran the board for pacers at 107 and to tell you the truth, haven't been too involved since Reggie left. As one of the original jocks for X103 years ago, these days, I'm not much into chit-chat. You guys seem to know what Colt fans want, and there are too many people that just enjoy hearing their own voices. Keep Rockin, "Go Colts"

    What we need to see at a bar first round pick Is his explosion off the ball. We don't have anybody besides Buckner. That can explode off the ball. The reason why we broke sacks records but no one had a ton of sacks by themselves. It's because they were mostly coverage, sacks. Or clean up Sacks, from Bukner to the middle.
