I have 10 acres on my 80 1 let go that way 6 years ago. I planted over 30000 trees in the last 24 years and some are maturing white pines that are 25 -30 feet tall. So the new growth is red o dogwood and willows in between the pines and food plot combo of corn strip and beans. This winter rabbit hunting I found over 40 beds in the new growth

Totally agree. Early succession is under utilized and a major positive for whitetail and wildlife.

Very interesting! So, basically keep the grasses killed off, add some clover and then let the broadleafs go fallow?

Yes that would work. Then you can manage with disturbances like fire or discing and also herbicide to eliminate anything you don't want.

Great video. Im doing switch grass around my plots. Wondering the stuff you planted does it stay standing in the winter or does it lay down

After multiple frosts/snows it won't have the same structure as during the growing season, but it is still better than bare ground.
