I'm glad I came across this and Kim hit the nail on the head in the end of the interview when she was describing the mistake the producers made in filming style on Guiding Light in it's last few years of production, this was when I stopped watching the show. I have seen and heard a lot of people on social media saying they'd like to see Guiding Light make a return and I'm in agreement with that BUT only if it's done right and whomever picked up the rights to production went back to filming in the studio. Bring back the well loved sets, the Lighthouse, "Towers" club, the diner, the beach, the cabin at Cross Creek etc. Events such as the Bauer's annual picnic etc also need to be brought back. These "talk shows" that have taken over need to go.
Kim was right: When they changed the show to a reality type setting, it was a huge big mistake. I wish the show was released on DVD from their first tv debut to the end.
Jimmie Jam Of The Day! Yeah. Obviously they did what they did to save money. If they hadn’t gone that route, the show probably would have been cancelled several years before it actually was. In hindsight, that probably would have been better. At least they would have gone out with some dignity. I remember turning in GL randomly one day during those last two years and thinking “What is this? This cannot be GL!” Unfortunately, it was.
the name Reva, reminds me of Reba, or Reeva....reminding me of Reeva Steenkamp...I loved Reva Shayne! I watched her 28 yrs! there's a street in Sarasota, FL called Cross Creek, it reminds me of Reva and Joshua, and the Cabin!
I really miss Guilding Light and all of the magnificent actors.I keep waiting to see some of the older actors on the other soaps. I could never understand why the show was canceled!! Kim Zimmer u r the best!!
Nicole Ackerman That was the worst. Kim talks about that whole disaster in her book “I’m Just Sayin’” which is fantastic, btw. She was just as distressed as viewers were by that format change!
Too bad that no one had the chance to interview the ultimate Actress Beverlee Mc Kinsey who played Alexandra Spaulding , Beverlee never over or under acted , she was the Diva of Daytime Television
I know Bev was great. There is an interview in print with TV guide you can read. It's when Bev exercised an out clause in her contract no one knew about and left Guiding Light.
I like Kim and she had her moments on GL. The problem was, she was overused and sucked all of the oxygen out of the show. When she left, I didn’t miss her. It was nice to see the other actors shine. And they really couldn’t do that when it became the Reva show.
Great interview…. Loved her candor.
Thank you for this. Kim Zimmer is my Meryl Streep. Just an incredible talent
Kim Zimmer and Reva Lewis are one and the same. This interview felt like catch up with a long absent best friend.
