    Hard to believe that the ice was this good on 11/19. Here's hoping we are out ripping up Poygan this early in 2020.

      Midwest Ice Bros. It would be awesome to be on the ice in a month! Fingers crossed!!

    Are the fish usually in that shallow on that lake? I imagine it makes finding the fish challenging.

    • @CNCoutdoors
      @CNCoutdoors  9 лет назад

      Yeah the maximum depth of lake poygan is only about 10 feet. Some days it can be extremely hard to find fish but when you do get on a good school it's usually non stop action.

    how long does it take to walk out that far? i know snowmobiles are pretty quick on good ice but early ice how long?

    • @CNCoutdoors
      @CNCoutdoors  7 лет назад

      Depending on how much snow cover and how far your willing to walk, about 20-40 min roughly.

    What model clam is that? I am looking into buying a clam!

    • @CNCoutdoors
      @CNCoutdoors  9 лет назад

      It's the Nanook Thermal. I've had it for 5-6 years now and I haven't had a problem at all. Make sure to put runners on the bottom of the sled if you plan on pulling it with a wheeler or snowmobile.

      I've owned a vexilar FL8 for about 8 years now and probably use it around 60-80 days out of the year. I had to buy a new battery for it last ice season but that is the only problem I've had with it. Best $300 I've ever spent

    Usually bass taste like shit and are best thrown back for sport but I've never eaten a white bass. What do they taste like and where is Lake Poygan?

    • @CNCoutdoors
      @CNCoutdoors  10 лет назад +1

      Agreed, a white bass is a little different compared to your largemouth/smallmouth though. Basically what you do is just take the back strap off of the fish (everything above the spine) everything below the spine is a red/brown junk meat. The only time I ever keep em is in the winter and when I really need fish to eat. They are a very tasty fish..there just annoying to clean if you keep 100 of them (there is no limit) Lake poygan is connected to Lake Winnebago in wisconsin

      I soak all my fish in saltwater! Works great because it draws out the blood. I've also heard that milk works good

      wishinifishin517 personally the white bass are good eating but you have to take the red meat off of them or they taste like garbage
