  • During the weekend when Resource Recovery isn't running routes, Santa Cruz's Parking Division takes over servicing downtown public litter bins. This route collects all of the street containers and bins in city run parking lots twice daily. This Heil Under CDL Mini Rear Loader is assigned to the route allowing the crew to go into busy parking lots with ease. I found the way the blade was set up intriguing. Instead of the down and sweep, this truck has an out and sweep design making packing time much faster and easier with just the one lever as opposed to the two levers on regular rear loaders. I don’t know how well the packer would work on bulky routes since it doesn’t go out that far but I do think it would have worked well on regular trash and recycle routes. A quick look on Heil's site shows this truck isn't in production anymore and judging by how little I've seen on the road leads me to believe it never really took off. This has since been demoted to a spare and replaced by a Ford Perkins.
Thanks to the crew for allowing me to film!

Great video and neat little truck! Also, I've always wondered how the recycle compartments on those types of bins work. Is it just meant to hold cans and bottles for people to collect them for deposits? And is there any way to empty it besides pulling out the items one by one?

Thanks! There is a latch beneath the recycle compartment that opens a door allowing everything to fall into the container below.

Interesting truck, seems like Heil has had a bit of flops with their designs with the SST and I haven't heard much of their Revamp. They should just stick to the arms they specialize in and bring back the C Frame 7000 arm lol.

Thanks Andres! I actually think this truck had a lot of potential but New Way pretty much has it cornered with their Diamondback.
