A punjabi lady from the audiences is telling Javed Akhtar she want to teach their children Urdu (a language imported from India) but is finding it difficult. She does not want to teach her children their mother tongue Punjabi.
There is for you the Pakistani identity crisis that they are all talking about!
Pakistani Punjabis only community in the world who banned their own mother tongue in their schools, their public offices, their assembly. Btw I am an Indian Punjabi, a proud one.

@Sania Rehan nope in our indian punjab, punjabi is the sole official language of the state. Only Punjabi and English are taught in schools, only some private schools offer hindi as third language if anyone want to study it

@Sania Rehan pathak nepali surname? heard it for the first time and there is no national language in india. govt in punjab uses panjabi language in gurmukhi scripts or english the state which has its local language uses its own language and english .. now through new education policy the students are required to learn 3 languages {mother tongue, any other language in india(languages in 7th schedule) and any foreign language}.
No doubt Javed Akhtar is a good poet but why he is invited almost everytime in Faiz festival ? There are thousands of great Urdu poets in India why not one them is invited by Faiz festival authority ?

Urdu and Persian both languages are written in Arabic alphabet. He should know it. Bollywood songs, dance is apart of the Indian culture and this is the only thing that seems to on the surface connect both nations though Pakistan is supposed to be an islamic country and music and movies are not apart of our religion and many things if not all go against our faith . It's a total shame that this atheist gets called every single year to festival of this nature. Why is a Muslim country inviting this man who hates islam to the core yet masscarades around like a urdu "Muslim" poet with a Muslim name?
