    Larisa is such a joy to watch on floor! She puts so much spunk and personality into the routines. More gymnasts should take a hint from her.

    Larisa Iordache amazingly improved her gymnastics since the Olympics. I noticed it yet at Doha and at the Euros : she is now one of the best gymnasts of the world!

    Iordache is my favourite at the moment, with Aliya Mustafina a close second.
    She is the best gymnast Romania has produced since 2004, she made all four EF in the recent European Championships....She won on Floor too. Artistry is coming back and musical interpretation is now important to the judges now too.

    • @vettegaddia6234
      @vettegaddia6234 9 лет назад +2

      Emmy Johnson I think the favorite to win Rio will be Biles, Mustafina and Iordache. If Iordache puts her layout full twist back on beam, she may beat Mustafina. But no pme will come close to Biles unless she makes a major, major error(like a fall). Wait..like Uchimura, Biles can win with a fall,

    • @emmyjo720
      @emmyjo720 9 лет назад

      Vette gaddia How boring....that sounds.

    • @vettegaddia6234
      @vettegaddia6234 9 лет назад

      Emmy Johnson Why do you think this is boring?

    • @emmyjo720
      @emmyjo720 9 лет назад

      +Vette gaddia The fact that Olympic Gold seems to be already decided and that Simone Biles will dominate. Though she is that only gymnast on the U.S. Team, I can watch without being bored. But her scores on beam are ridiculously high, as is the fact it is nearly impossible to win without an Amanar vault. I find the U.S. Domination boring. Though Simone is it a category of the true greats now, Tourisheva, Comenci, Shushunova, Silivas, Miller, Podkapyova, Khorkina and Mustafina. I would love to see Iordache win the AA this week, it looks like she is the last of the great Romania gymnasts.

    • @vettegaddia6234
      @vettegaddia6234 9 лет назад

      Emmy Johnson I hate to say it, but if iordache wins, it will be the biggest upset in gymnastic history, as much as I love her. She is far below her best. Biles has a lot of rivals on BB and V. She is always solid as a rock and have zero nerves. But one error more than 3 or 4 of her rivals on BB and V would send her to the silver or bronze medal. During the P&G, I thought she had it locked on V and BB until I watched her rivals this week. Of course, Biles will wipe out everyone in the AA since she is great on all four events. And her DD is outrageously high on FX. But there is a Japanese girl who only lost to her by less than 1 point. And if Biles falls, the Japanese girl has the ability to overcome her(of course, that is almost out of the question). All said and done though, the AA and the Team gold is totally her's.

    Artistic means having a creative natural skill. It doesn't always mean to be graceful. You could clearly see that Simone was having the time of her life in her floor exercise and was enjoying and selling it. A clear example of a gymnast that wasn't artistic was Aly Raisman.

  • @kras118
    @kras118 8 лет назад +6

    Tons of power on her triple twist-- wonder is she's ever trained a 3.5?

    Super ! Larisa Iordache.❤

  • @TheGymSavant
    @TheGymSavant 11 лет назад +1

    I didn't say anything about her being robotic, the smiles makes the routine seem nice, but it really doesn't make it more graceful. By graceful I don't mean balletic, I mean fluid and fitting, like Iordache, Izbasa and Ponor. They never had balletic music (for the most part), but worked very well with it.

    There are too many injuries: McKyla, Biles, Seitz, Komova, Kramarenko ,Afanasyevna even Iordache and Bulimar last year...something must be done in gymnastics ! We reward high difficulty executions even when they're not so well done and that's why coaches insist on difficulty scores and not execution ! FIG should take notice !

    • @yvikaltenbach9746
      @yvikaltenbach9746 9 лет назад +1

      Yes execution should be valued more. You could really prevent many injuries. It's called ARTISTIC gymnastics! When I was a gymnast I always had one of the highest execution scores but low difficulty. Sorry for my bad english

    • @vettegaddia6234
      @vettegaddia6234 9 лет назад

      freebluecatful What do you mean? Biles just did the most difficult FX routine of all time with: Double layout full, double layout 1/2, and TWO Silivas'. But I read that you can't get full credit with two passes with the same element. So I don't know why she ended her two last tumbling passes with two Silivas--maybe to show off'. I think she can do a double layout with two twists. Her layout full out is sky high.

    • @perfectly_cromulent
      @perfectly_cromulent 8 лет назад +2

      +Vette gaddia Simone's last pass is a full in. You are correct that a gymnast does not receive credit for a repeated pass, but she does not repeat any pass. Her passes are double layout full out, double layout half out, double double, full in.

  • @BostonBruins4019
    @BostonBruins4019 11 лет назад

    - Simone has higher start values
    - Simone has exceptional execution, Larisa does not point her toes or feet
    - Simone is the best tumbler in history, Larisa lands deeply on most tumbles
    - Simone IS a good dancer, yet her music leaves much to be desired. Larisa is an only dance but she poses and flings around 1/2 the time. She has no composure to her gymnastics. She is messy.
    - Simone is a million times better. 2013 World All Around Champion...vs 4th. Who's better now?

    Americans don't have anymore "true gymnasts". In my opinion, Shannon Miller was a true gymnast, Simone and others aren't.

  • @guardianofthegalaxy2051
    @guardianofthegalaxy2051 10 лет назад +19

    Get over it. You want the 'old era' artistry? Like the Romanian creepy dances in 70-80s? Just because the Olympic Champion and the current World Champion didn't show the 'artistry' that you or maybe like just ten thousand people expected, doesn't make the whole USA gymnastics 'unartistic'. Thank you.

    • @liukin95
      @liukin95 10 лет назад +12

      I think using the Romanian Choreography of the 70's and 80's is a bad example of what this person is trying to talk about. For me, the best example of artistry is the Soviets of 1992 (when they were the unified team) and Shannon Miller and Henrietta Ohodi, who all proved that a ballet background isn't needed to be 'artistic', although the Soviets do have ballet training. The juniors in the USA are actually very artistic, Bailie Key and many others will probably help turn that stereotype around for the USA. But I'm not going to lie, I would like to see gymnasts like Aly or Simone try and focus more on their artistry.

    • @freebluecatful
      @freebluecatful 10 лет назад +6

      Don't underestimate artistry fans, you would be surprised how many we are in all countries !! Because humans generally love beauty and even Olympics were started by the greeks to celebrate peace and beauty !

    • @guardianofthegalaxy2051
      @guardianofthegalaxy2051 10 лет назад +2

      Underestimate artistry fans? You don't get it. *I love artistic routine*, but my definition of art is different with yours.

    • @potocatepetl
      @potocatepetl 10 лет назад +6

      You aren't very bright, are you? The sport is called "artistic gymnastics" you _ _ _ _ _ (you can put whatever you want in here)! As long as this two words are still paired together, people have the right to expect gymnasts to be artistic. Otherwise they should change the name in power gymnastics or tumbling on music.

  • @Kitty27281

    Simone is an acrobat, not a true gymnast. She doesn't have style, she's like Diane do Santos from Brazil.

  • @zulmme
    @zulmme 11 лет назад

    Simone's choreograph is ok. Biles don't have a superior body carriage, she lacks natural femininity so her "artistry" will always look artificial, like something learned, no matter how good the choreographer is. Choreography depends on the gymnasts.

    I respect her style, but I think it's really overrated. Sure she smiles a lot, but all of her choreography is a bunch erratic hands movements all over the place. Is she performing a floor routine, or trying to become an airbender?
