  • About our guest :
Archana Kavi is an Indian Actor, Content creator and a RUclipsr. She has acted in several Malayalam movies. Her RUclips channel which goes by her name is hugely popular and she has already produced several popular web series like Meenaviyal, Toofan Mail on her channel. On the acting front she was an overnight success with her debut in the superhit movie Neelathamara directed by Lal Jose. She acted in a few movies after that, but none of them could replicate tthe success she had with Neelathamara. She is currently acting in a serial called Rani Raja on Mazhavil Manorama, a General Entertainment Channel in Malayalam. Her character name is Aami in the serial.
In this episode Archana shares her journey from being a film actor to a RUclipsr and content creator. She speaks truthfully about the mental health issues that she is dealing with. She talks about the day to day struggles when handling the ups and downs that come with mental health disorders like Depression, Bipolar disorder and PMDD. She has always spoken truthfully about her mental health issues and continues to motivate others to accept them and seek effective treatment. She implores everyone to seek professional help by consulting Psychiatrists or Psychologists and help spread awareness about mental health issues'. The stigma that surrounds mental disorders could be a roadblock, she endeavors to remove the stigma by sharing her life journey with us. Her life journey could be an inspiration to many as she has come out stronger every time she had to face a challenge. She also discusses her relationship with her ex-husband Abish Mathew and why things didn`t work out for the both of them. Her parents have been a strong support system for her all through her difficulties and continue to be her pillar of strength.
Archana is a survivor and a warrior and these two episodes showcase her journey of struggles and how she overcame every setback, every challenge that was thrown her way.
We extend heartfelt gratitude to Archana for sharing what she did on the show and wish her all success in all her future endeavors.

I haven't seen a raw interview like this so far in recent times.Hats off to the host for letting Archana speak her heart out and sharing her side of life. More power to women like her ...! I hope she keeps fine and receives all the help possible from near and dear ones. It is so important to find the right people to clinically diagnose and propose the right treatment plan based on the individuals present state of mind. Unfortunately,we don't have many such experts in India who know what they speak or have a clue on what to do. Most commonly suggested "solution" for a person with depression,if unmarried,is to get married and if married and depressed, then have a kid. This itself explains the "expertise" available in our country.

I'm a C-PTSD patient due to generational trauma and abuses, and that "namukonnu kulichalo" kind of re-parenting that you do to yourself tears me up also. I'm here doing such lil things with me every day these days to get me up and do things. It's hard. 🥺 And the weather thing. I don't need a person too to be hyperactive when in such moments. 😅❤️ Hugs dear ❤️ I feel you totally as C-PTSD has some BPD traits. But we got this.💪🏻 We are greater than our ups and downs. We are warriors. Awareness is the key. We all deserve healing ❤️

Talking about depression is not easy, especially in our community. Telling people that you're going to therapy or taking medication is not easy, especially in our community. But more and more people need to speak up so that others that are struggling through such things understand that's it's okay, they're okay and that they're brave to reach out and get help! To know, you're strong!
My father was diagnosed with severe anxiety and depression for 3 yrs. He struggled a lot to get through his days, like Archana mentioned some days he was his old self and other days he barely could move. And one day he decided that he can't take it anymore and he ended his battle... He gave up fighting to stay afloat. There are so many people out there that are going through these things. The more we speak about it the more people will have awareness and the more people will be equipped to help others that need the support!
Thank you Archana for speaking up. Thank you Dhanya chechi for giving her the space and the attention she needed to open up about it.
    Great interview!

Please refer somatoform disorder which is a mental condition where a person experience real pain in body but not having any physical issues. This is mostly seen in after 30s women who don't get any kind of attention from others especially their partners and their unconscious mind in making this pain to get care and attention from others. They keep changing the doctors until some doctor said they have some problem. Its makes them felt acknowledged. We can manage this by giving extra care to them. Understand their feelings, counseling, make them engage in some activities which they feel worth about themselves.

When more and more ppl talk about mental illness openly, the so called stigma around this will slowly disappear. More ppl should come forward and share their experiences. Not every mental illness needs to be categorised as psychosis. I had an employee who suffered from bipolar and he was very good in his job during his 'high' phase. There were a few days he was unable to perform his tasks. We accommodated him to certain extent and he spent ~6 months with us. He could not handle the work pressure and he decided to take a break and focus on his health for sometime.
Though bipolar varies from patient to patient, there is proven treatment in Homeo. I know a few patients who are able to manage a decent quality of life with regular medicines, yoga and meditation.

More power to you Archana for speaking out and being as real as can be. Mental health is a journey, like you rightly said. It isn't always a low and then success all of a sudden. People expect you to snap out of it quickly like it's a phase. It's not! And why I say that? Because I too am a recently divorced woman who went through hell and needed help. Mine is not amicable like yours. It's been 2 years and I still have nightmares that I am back at his place. Whenever my therapist say we can stop sessions, after 2 months I would have to restart because the scar is that deep. It takes time. And I learnt to be very loving and gentle with myself.
Anyone reading this in similar situation - hold onto your family and your close friends. Their role in your recovery is very important.

For anybody who has a child with dislexia, please note that each board gives concessions for such kids for the board exams. You just need to get it certified and produce it to the board. Dr Anjali Morris Foundation is an NGO in India that works to help such kids to learn methods that work for them.

If you could elaborate on the topic it would be helpful . I had problems with numbers from school itself but now I have a degree in engineering .but the struggle I had to go through and the time it took me to get the degree is unimaginable . Was depressed and had been addicted to substance too coz I couldn't finish my degree on time .I always knew I had discalculia but my mom didn't want to acknowledge it .if you could explain how and we're you could get it certified it would be helpful for a lot of people.

As someone with learning disability, I can completely relate with everything she said. But what's different in my case is that it totally destroyed my confidence and self esteem. Eventhough I've found ways to deal with my disability, the scars still remain even after 12 years and doesn't look like it's going to heal anytime soon. The thought that always comes back to me is if only someone had diagnosed me back then and my life would have been totally different.

There is no age/ time limit to improving. Dont close doors feeling its gone. Your new day starts from now on. Know that you are capable, smart. Earlier, if there were failures, it was not you, just a disability getting your way because of the way our education/system was setup. I wish and hope its a new beginning now on and your confidence and self esteem returns and you thrive in life ❤

I am so proud of you Archana! Having dyslexia itself is difficult.. in spite of not getting specific reading support and surviving that entire school journey with your parents and teacher supports is amazing.. at the end you accept, learn and cherish every aspect and experiences in your life.. and that you are unapologetic about yourself is something the the millennials need to imbibe from you! Kudos to you! More power to you girl! 🎉😊

I'm watching this interview with a bad mental health, but mind full of exposure. I'm in a place where I think, overthink, cry at places that I shouldn't, and everything ruined. But I'm also at that place where I have a lot of ideas and understanding about myself, and that I have that inner energy towards doing it.
This interview was worth it. I'd come back whenever I'm not okay and watch this. I'd comeback and watch this whenever I need that little push.
Love you Archana and so thankful to Dhanya ❤️
