Ill never forget seeing this on Conan in June '94, I went out and bought the 5 Days album the very next day. That album had more influence on my musical tastes than any other I've ever listened to.
No doubt they would've wanted more fame and recognition back in their younger days but they seem more than happy and comfortable with how their career turned out over the years.
Y'all have said it! I think the song found its perfect expression that night on Conan! And you can tell Conan knew it...now what did Gregg say to him that made him reply "yeah, I'm a freak...? .
One of my favs too. Awesome band. Never could understand why they didn’t blow up in the US. I always thought it would happen when a US country legend covered one of their tunes. “It hasn’t happened yet” and “Bad Timing” would be ironically appropriate. :) Ontario’s greatest contribution to the international music scene has always been solo acts more so than bands - Neil Young, Gordon Lightfoot, Paul Anka, Shania Twain, Drake… but for bands I think Blue Rodeo must sit alongside the Hip near the top, but certainly behind The Band and Rush who both crushed it internationally.
Terrific live performance. These guys are so tight and their shared vocals in this song really complement each others style. A trademark song of Blue Rodeo.
Love Love Blue Rodeo brings back back great memories with my sister who passed away in 2009 to cancer this is for her up in heaven as she loved Blue Rodeo! Miss you everyday know you are at peace ❤❤❤💋💋
So inspiring. You have a lead singer putting passion into singing back up, the lap steel guitar (?) guy and bass player so non-assuming but ripping it, drummer with his Canadian gear, zero fashion to say the least....yet it's an amazing song played so sharp and balanced. They BRING IT!
Iconic song, iconic band. etched in our audiophile brains as the best bit of Canadiana music and talent for all to celebrate, enjoy and be proud of the gift of the best musical composition coming out of the east coast.
GTFOH with your British comparison to Canadian artists! McCartney is an ass, Lennon is not bad, y'all fell down the schitt pipe listening to your so called artists!😅😊
You don't know what's up till you have sparked a fatty at an outdoor Blue Rodeo concert the moment they sing... it's kinda like those sunsets that leave you feeling so stooooned. Amazing 😊
I re-visit this performance on the regular. It's so so good. The giant palm slide on the organ, Gregg's leg kick in the bridge section, that vintage Gibson mandolin, Baz playing through a monster bass amp, Glenn with the build up going into Gregg's leg kick and Kim's sliding - it's all there AND probably one of my all time favorite songs ever.
Always liked their stuff when I heard them on the radio, stumbled upon a live performance, couldn't believe how much better they are live, now i love everything about the band. Keelor's solo record "Aphrodite Rose" is the coolest record ever...
Wow!! I have loved this band since 5 Days in July came out, one of my top 10 all time albums...but until now I have never seen a recording of them performing live from back in the day. I used to always think JC was the star of the band, but I came to realize that GK's darker and moodier songs and performances really had more of an impact on me. Still listen to 5 Days in July on a regular basis...it is a real mood lifter.
This was his and his wife's favorite song & after he was gone we all sat down & listened to it & it 's amazing how this song is pretty much exactly what happened to him. Since that day I've probably listened to this song about at least 300 times. Great song
Absolutely! Seen 'em in Ottawa three times, in Cornwall and Simcoe, as well as having caught the Jim Cuddy Band in a really small venue. Every show was intimate and brilliantly performed!
I found this band by watching the Netflix documentary “Fear of 13” the true story of Nick Yarris. I’m so glad they played this song on the documentary. What a great song!
Love this. Thanks John Law for sharing!! All Blue Rodeo fans....they will be doing a Benefit Concert for us for our Parkinson's Foundation on Nov 6, 2015 at the Meridian Centre in St. Catharines, Ontario. Tickets at Ticketmaster! Help us Kick Parkinson's ass!
Nothing weird about great taste in music...no matter how old you are! Music is music! If it sings to you, enjoy it. If it doesn't move on and don't dis it like so many do on RUclips. Proud of you!
Kool live version! Remember I saw Greg keel or on the street in Vancouver around 99 or so ... I was really excited to say hi to him , but he was like ok kid lol
There is a very serious argument to be made that Blue Rodeo is the best Canadian band ever. I absolutely love their music. Countless songs that are just part of who I am.
I'd give it to Personality Crisis. Maybe I just have a weakness for things that burn fast and bright. But Blue Rodeo is right up there. Five Days in July was a staple of my childhood summers. About the best lake music you could ever ask for.
Wow, one of my favorite Canadian bands. And it's true that many folks in the US missed a great band. Anytime you hear of them playing in the states - you'd give yourself a great listening favor to attend their concert.
God I love Canadian music. In my humble opinion, this is an iconic performance of an iconic tune.
This song is a piece of Canadian cultural heritage, what a group of lads
The world's most underappreciated band. I will always love them.
Kim Deschamps just givin'er on the pedal steel. Beauty song and tremendously performed.
for some reason this song just strikes such a massive chord with me... every time, and it never wears on me. There's not many songs like this.
I saw them do this live at SARS in 2003. I was basically 30ft from the band. Unreal
You and me both.
Went to see these guys a few weeks ago in Toronto and was the best concert I been to! Thanks guys for such legendary music!
This is an absolute stunning masterpiece of beauty, emotion, soul, love 🌲🍁💜🍁🌲
Ill never forget seeing this on Conan in June '94, I went out and bought the 5 Days album the very next day. That album had more influence on my musical tastes than any other I've ever listened to.
Awesome comment ✌
This is country music that is laid back and mellow it really relaxes you after a hard days work to just kick back n relax.
Fuckin' amazing! Love my Canadian Music!! It'll be in my bones till I'm long gone!!!
Love this performance. I come back several times a year to rewatch.
What a song. What a band. Glenn Milchem absolutely kicks this song in butt! Tremendous groove.
Christopher Smith Oh Canada!!!!!!!
Agree very much!! An awesome performance by Glenn!!!
So sad this band didn't get the recognition it so deserved! Hail, Hail Blue Rodeo! Most definitely a hard act to follow!
@fushapanther Which is exactly the way we like it! They are iconic up here in the great white north!!
No doubt they would've wanted more fame and recognition back in their younger days but they seem more than happy and comfortable with how their career turned out over the years.

@@Jamie-1985 good show, thanks
We mighta lost Gord, and the Hip will never be again, but We always got Blue Rodeo. Canada was always underrated but we own the world.
Shh don't say it too loud we are undercover
Best band that ever came out of Ontario. So proud of these guys.
One of my favs too. Awesome band. Never could understand why they didn’t blow up in the US. I always thought it would happen when a US country legend covered one of their tunes. “It hasn’t happened yet” and “Bad Timing” would be ironically appropriate. :)

Tragically Hip?
@@ToasterBossThey kind of suck.
@@07foxmulder no way…..ever listened to three pistols? It oughta change your mind..
A stunningly exceptional performance of an equally exceptional song.
This performance is truly outstanding...gives me chills every time I watch it....
Terrific live performance. These guys are so tight and their shared vocals in this song really complement each others style. A trademark song of Blue Rodeo.
what a great sound and talent from Canada
Such chorus combine can’t ask for any better
Most beloved song by most beloved Canadian band. An audience-singalong favorite at Blue Rodeo concerts.
Love Love Blue Rodeo brings back back great memories with my sister who passed away in 2009 to cancer this is for her up in heaven as she loved Blue Rodeo! Miss you everyday know you are at peace ❤❤❤💋💋
Incredible how good of a live performance this is.
In the summer of 92 in Pittsburgh, I fell in love with a girl and them. I miss them both so much. Really appreciate this song more as I get older.

Zero fashion? Isn't a t-shirt "fashionable" anymore? Hahaha
@@paulmcconkey637 sure, when they fit :)
THANK GOD I Grew Up On The Canadian Border.......Great Music By GREAT CANADIAN BANDS......

They are so F-ing good.
These guys always deliver a good performance. I'd see them play again and again. Never get tired of their brand of music.
Damn, what a GREAT version of this song. Maybe the best I've heard!
I agree! I've seen them about 50 times in my life and it never gets old. hehe!
great music,proud too be Canadian.2021
Iconic song, iconic band. etched in our audiophile brains as the best bit of Canadiana music and talent for all to celebrate, enjoy and be proud of the gift of the best musical composition coming out of the east coast.
Canada's Lennon and McCartney.
or Hillman and Parsons ? Love Blue Rodeo
Ur not wrong
Definitely!!
Hall and Oates
Simon and Garfunkel
Loggins and Messina
GTFOH with your British comparison to Canadian artists! McCartney is an ass, Lennon is not bad, y'all fell down the schitt pipe listening to your so called artists!😅😊
Blue Rodeo is the best! Even after all these years Jim and Greg are still dynamic together!
This is timeless and the song's beauty and this awesome performance just warms my heart.
You don't know what's up till you have sparked a fatty at an outdoor Blue Rodeo concert the moment they sing... it's kinda like those sunsets that leave you feeling so stooooned. Amazing 😊
Probably the best version out there!!!!
With the Skydiggers is off the charts
That Gibson jumbo is amazing.
Does any Canadian not sing along when Blue Rodeo comes on the car radio?
Awesome group, Love them👍🙏
I simply just can't get enough of this song, studio version, live version anywhere anytime...it consumes me.
I re-visit this performance on the regular. It's so so good. Love your music listen at night when I’m in bed love it
Saw these guys way back before they became popular. So glad to see they are still around. One of Canada's best!

Never tire of listening to “Blue Rodeo” love “GK””
As great as Blue Rodeo performed, which they were amazing. The video editor did a fantastic job on this. Amazing for all involved.
This live version is great ! 2 thumbs up from me.
Amazing performance
Love these guys and hope I could see them at Place des Arts in Montreal some day in the future…
I saw these guys once and Great Big Sea was opening for them. All I can say that it was one of the best concerts I have ever been to!
I wish I had a large enough font to adequately express "YES!!!" for this band and song.
This song really shows how their voices come together each other and make the band's 'sound'! Compliments to the band as well of course!
Still love this tune 12/21

I can place myself exactly where I was when I first heard this beauty! Miss ya Careleton crew 93 Russel House!

These guys rock, even when their music is on the mellow side. Great stuff!
Thanks for this song. These guys were meant to sing along together. Hope their egos don't separate them along the way.
Absolutely! Seen 'em in Ottawa three times, in Cornwall and Simcoe, as well as having caught the Jim Cuddy Band in a really small venue. Every show was intimate and brilliantly performed!
Totally Awesome Band.
I am thankful that at 66 I live near the Canadian border so I can be exposed to so much great music.
saw them a bunch of times each summer at Bourbon Street North of Montreal. Always a great show
I don't know why, but somehow, out of the vast library of Blue Rodeo phenomenally gut gripping songs, this is my favourite.
Brilliant.The song is a BENCHMARK.
Yes, an excellent Canadian band! I just saw a month ago, I am a FAN!
Always had so much fun at their shows. Love these guys.
Just love the entire band, so good! Exceptional talent songs from life and well written emotion that is raw

Blue radio or tragically hip... but 90% of the band was Canadian and the band was one influential bands ever... blue rodeo would agree
I'd give it to Personality Crisis. Maybe I just have a weakness for things that burn fast and bright. But Blue Rodeo is right up there. Five Days in July was a staple of my childhood summers. About the best lake music you could ever ask for.

As did I. They were incredible. I was lucky enough to be 10 feet from Jim.
I was there too. And then I saw them again at the NAC in February!
This song always makes me homesick for Ontario. :-(
