I was watching with open mouth. He was doing everything so smooth and natural. Can belive, that it's real. This man is a hero. He made good job to adapt so well.

The most interesting thing about this video is how the hook is clearly superior for everything they show him doing, at least in a utilitarian sense (I gather they're physically more taxing). So much faster.

I think in the future as this becomes more normal, easier to use it will become more fashionable in industry and maybe even at home and not just for prosthesis. I think as tech becomes a part of us more visibly it will demand we change our concepts of self divided from nature and technology. That bridge is a blurry one - I think that will be called into question by more people in the future. I'd consider it too

At what point will people prefer bionic limbs I wonder?

PP3D Or an entirely bionic body alla Ghost in the Shell for that matter? #Freaky :/

I think the time is coming. Once prosthetics out-preform the original limb. It will join the taboo world of body-modification. Just think about for a construction worker. Would you rather have an arm than can be damaged, causing pain, can fatigue, etc. or one that is stronger, versatile, possibly containing multiple tools that can be accessed with thought? Sure, you can always improve the human arm, but it has limitations, and takes much time. Same can be said about fixing/healing a damaged bone. A prosthetic an easily be replaced.

TRUE, but developing affordable surgeries that can heal quickly and actually REPLACE limbs without the body rejecting the implant will take a considerable amount of time... I cannot wait until this tech develops far enough to start saving more lives and THEN improving non-injured people or 'enhancing' what already exists can start to happen. My Japanese friends always know the latest technological advances and they tell me about them. I think Japan is definitely going to be the first creators of synthetic life... And the concept both terrifies AND intrigues me... What will it be like? Sentient beings created by sentient beings. I don't know anyone MORE curious about robots than myself, I just hope the tech isn't abused in the future. You know, like people addicted to plastic surgery and whatnot.

Exactly, although microchip implants already exists, and are being used more and more for the paralyzed to control a computer. This can/is being applied to prosthetic....Although, what you say about sentient beings i think will take much more time, such as Artificial intelligence. A great show that illustrates potential future issues with tech is "Person of Interest". I have become hooked since the end of season 1...I believe technology will always be abused, but it will not be a direct threat for many decades. (direct as in the machine threatening you, not being controlled).
It will begin to save/repair lives before it can function as a superior limb to improve a healthy individual.
