RIP Jimi Hendrix (November 27, 1942 - September 18, 1970), aged 27 And RIP Randy California (February 20, 1951 - January 2, 1997), aged 45 You both will always be remembered as legends.
As a guitar player, bass, drummer, and general music enthusiast....... I have to say, Randy California, is my biggest inspiration as a musician and all around human being. What a soul. ✌️
I saw Randy California doing a Jimi Hendrix impersonation act at Opehrs night club in Waikiki once, sometime between 1976 and 1979, I want to say 1978 but not sure. He came out to welcome everyone, then left the stage and got into his costume and returned as Jimi a few minutes later, and blew everybody away. I'll never forget how good that show was.
Of ALL the SPIRIT songs, I would put it TOP THREE..... so listenable over and over.....1984 and I GOTTA LINE on YOU also. FRESH GARBAGE is a damn good jam too.....
RUclips keeps serving me Randy California vids. To be fair my name is Randy and I’m from California. Also my dad was Spirit’s business manager in the late sixties and early seventies. Ed Cassidy used to keep his Datsun in our garage while he was on tour. I saw quite a few great Spirit concerts back then. Including at Santa Monica Civic where there was something crazy going onstage, the house lights came on for an hour, and I was tripping on the Thai stick I found in the bathroom. But please, how many times can I watch “I Got A line On You”? Gotta admit though, this video is pretty cool 😎.
Spirit is one of the most underrated bands in rock history.

Randy seemed like a really sweet guy as well as being a genius musician.
Randy was an underrated guitarist, but what stood out to me was his great voice.
