      Yeah the mix is a little off, Got to remember, this was a warm up take i kinda just put on here.
      The scratching is a little bit louder that it'd want it to be, same with not having my typical reverb fx chain on it.

      Simply put, the scratching sound comes from rubbing the record (circle) back and forth, and the crossfader (the little thing in the middle) cuts the sound off. Moving the crossfader rhythmically and scratching at the same time makes these cool sounds.

      Learning how to play the turntables is like any other instrument, however there's a lot of nuance in the turntables, scratch too fast and the note goes sharp or flat or even ends up being a completly different note.
      It's a rhythm based instrument, more comparable to the bass in a more traditional sense.

    • @CaptainDugog
      @CaptainDugog  5 месяцев назад +3

      There's a German turntablist called Alex Sonnerfield that teaches the instrument at a university level and he uses traditional notation to demonstrate scratching.
      ruclips.net/video/VekF6k9CRnM/видео.html
      His entire channel is worth checking out.
      His method was even adapted into songsterr for Sids scratch parts
      www.songsterr.com/a/wsa/slipknot-only-one-drum-tab-s22119t0
      Q-bert developed a system in the 90s that uses the a grid in which the Y axis is sample position and X is time, and it sounds complicated but it's quite intuitive, they recently developed that system into a proper software that can turn anyone's scratching into 'scratch tab' if you will.
      ruclips.net/video/PnnQP2qrvNU/видео.html
      I believe Sonnenfield had a hand in helping develop Q-brts wave grids into a software because he's also featured on this channel quite a lot.

      That's a good drive link to someone that has put up the album flac's in 2 parts, side a and side b, that may be due to the fact that the record was recently reprinted in a 7 inch variety which is smaller, more compressed and has the samples spread out between B and A more than the typical 12 inch variation, if you want an all in 1, i can email that to you directly, just jump into my discord server via the link on my home page and i'll dm you from there. Along with that i can help you learn how to scratch most slipknot songs too.

      But if you want something similar to me, I'd say check out the pioneer ddj rev1, its designed in battle scratch style so it encourages turntablism rather than dj mixing.

      It's a Pioneer DDJ RB and a NUX MG-100, they don't really make the RB anymore, i'd suggest getting a roland dj 202 if you want to have the same feel, it runs serato though. Really good controllers for metal turntablism since they run really well on their daws and are still small enough to lug around for band practice.
