Have you ever thought about procrastination being tied to perfectionism before?

Oof, this video struck me rather hard. Procrastination is a huge problem in my life, and I honestly hadn't considered fear of failure to be related to that. I take failure rather hard as I often beat myself up emotionally about it for days, months, or even years. (Depending on what I've failed at, or rather what I've perceived myself to have fail at.) I don't consider myself a perfectionist, for reasons you've already mentioned, but I suppose its "I'm going to fail, so I'll fail it my own way." sense of having Some control, again for reasons you've mentioned. Sorry for repeating what you've said, just reiterating to help myself understand.

Not really .when I have 'too much' time, I tend to put too much attention to that and make endless 'corrections'. When time is running , it just must be good right now :) or cancelled .oh Gosh . Thank you for helping me 'opening new doors'.

I'm accustomed to procrastination being linked to things like not being motivated enough or not wanting to confront the problem. I associate this with being a kid and having days to finish a homework assignment.

It quickly brought me back to reality. Thank you! ❤️ Now Im watching other videos that apply to me. I’ve even shared with other friends who share their personal issues. Oh my goodness I I'm this person I'm a perfectionist and a procrastinator. I'll have a task so big I dont even know where to begin. So I put it off then I'm rushing around last minute

This is awesome. Right through university I would procrastinate on my essays, tests etc I always found that when I left it to the last minute the pressure would always produce more mentally. Some of my best work and marks were from procrastinating........however this has carried on throughout life as by now it wasn't a choice but a bad habit leaving stuff to the last minute putting myself under pressure and stress, procrastinating until I got burnt out and then was unable to cope.

Thanks for sharing that McBreezy. Yeah, a lot of us can do well even when we leave things till the last minute, but the mental strain and stress of it all hardly seems worth it.

I think i like julia kristina. So wise.
I suspect that some people who sunk into procrastination are better of/not in a condition to take decisions.
I suspect they are more likely to harm themselves by taking a decision/initiative.
Its all right to procrasinate. Sometimes , in certain states of mind, the best thing to do is absolutely nothing.
Especially if you just suffered a crisis/calamity/extreme circumstances.

Procrastination does relate to perfectionism yes. Words of a chronic procrastinator... I was 5 years to finish my degree and I didn't... I spent loads of money, and time. I didn't. The last subject was about giving a oral presentation to a jury. I did the internship but I didn't start the written report because I was afraid of it. I'm social phobic and I couldn't deal with public since a young age. Recently I've started facing public, singing, and the last things I've been doing is to reprogram subconscious mind. It is a slow process but already feeling progress. A simple task like looking for another job usually was a hard task. The suffering that procrastination brings can be really high, emotional pain and anxiety roller-coasters I can relate. I'm sure it started with things repeated over and over again by people around me, when I was a child...

I used to be a procrastinator too! But I got tired of being so stressed out and panicky all the time so I decided to start doing things differently ;-)

Thank you for a very insightful summary of where procrastination originates. However, the title suggests a solution, which you don't explicitly address beyond "if you learn to embrace failure (or the risk thereof), you will stop procrastinating". While undoubtedly true, this sounds like a longer process, so any advice on how to tackle this faster would be helpful.

How to deal with such situation where I have given my hardest effort yet it didn't work out as expected. I don't have an excuse or reason to believe why I failed.
