Consciousness is the subjective experience that we have from the operation of the brain. Now that we can understand the operation of the brain we can understand consciousness.
I think we are very close to having a full understanding of the nature of reality. Also, I would say that it is a conclusion of the rational approach that it is not possible to prove or disprove the existence of God. We are close to understanding how the brain operates and this suggests a correct choice of language to use. We can talk about developing a worldview which evolves based on new sensory input in all forms. This is very much a rational view which says that responses such as flight or fight to a threat are built into our worldview either from experience or like a “knee jerk” reaction. This viewpoint would reject the idea of intuition or feelings as something separate from our rational brain response.
Don’t rely on the Big Bang description of the end of the universe. The Big Bang theory is on its way out and the new model looks like the universe has an infinite future.
