I'm not canadian, but I do like seeing other countries and feel like theres very little information about how the canadian welding stuff works. Thanks for this video!
The T class was very interesting to get at least the open groove part, no grinding except for the stop and tacks, only a wire wheel, then after your 6010 root pass, you rip a hot pass with 7018 at 140 amps.
For us where i weld for stick and mig and spay we went flat , vertical, overhead and finally horizontal. As the most fails came from horizontal. All tested on hy-100 1 inch plates for the coupons. Curious what some of yall did for process order and material used for the test.
Video was decent. Will any of the parts cover anything on aluminum or CWB pipe tests? I'm not downloading some random ap just to watch more parts though. There seems to be a serious lack on info on aluminum or pipe tests (such as the CWB 5g 6" sch80). We even called CWB and the person on the phone was painfully clueless. Not sure what the point in having a 1-800 info line if the person answering the phone knows less than the 1st year apprentice that called.
Thanks for the comment. This series is focused on CSA 47.1 which is carbon steel. If it’s aluminum, you need W47.2. Can I ask why you are looking for pipe tests with CWB? I know they do have qualifications but high pressure is usually TSSA in Ontario or B pressure in Alberta even different in other provinces. Different in each province. I think I can help ~ Guy
I left welding school 43 years ago in Nova Scotia, i have been welding pretty much ever since, i have never worked for a company that required a CWB ticket, i had my own shop for about 10 years and only once did i loose a job because of no ticket, i would love to have a ticket but i can never have one without working for a company that requires one, unless i misunderstand i'm out of luck.
Absolutely- and good on you to be successful for so long. In guess it all depends what kind of industry. ..definitely not the end all. A lot of our learners want to join union halls or work on structural sites but need these qualifications.
Was disappointed, to see a guy named, Guy, at the beginning of the video, was really expecting the usual take on CWB test plates, the usual wedl any direction to fill the plates ect. Good video
I had him as teacher! It's so cool to see Canadian representation and education on this channel.
fr what a chad
Videos like this are woefully overdue. Kudos for putting this series out there.
Thanks Richard!

Thanks for this video!
That's the main reason he started this video series, he noticed there was not a lot, or even wrong information out there
@@MissingData_ The best reason for pitching in.
Canada houses some of the best welders on the planet 😊 Korea Japan and the US are powerhouses as well
In the states the larger flux core and metal core wires last I did made us use 3/8 backers

I worked for a structural steel company Marcon who does Canadian work. I got my CWB MCAW 1GF and 2GF. It was way different than AWS test.
Lol always be nice to the inspector 🇨🇦👍🏿
Super Informative.

It’s interesting to hear what different qualification tests are out there.
Yo professor Guy in da House!
🤜🏼🤛🏼
How much does each of the different "Qualifications" cost the individual to acquire ?
This would depend on the testing facility. On average you are looking at $125-150 cdn. Per position.
