/ @ajrestoration I was still living in Ireland at that time. I had some free time on my hands and since I liked restoring things I decided to try and video this one. I was not really serious about restoring, it was more a pastime thing.
Just a friendly reminder, the quality, and workmanship are not nearly as good as my newer videos, it's purely for you my viewers to see how far we have come. As the channel grows, so will the quality. Thank you all and please stay safe!

1888 Braime Pressings was founded by Thomas Fletcher Braime and was later joined by James Henry Braime. The company operated out of small premises in Hunslet Leeds, initially producing small pressings with a fly press and fabricating the Braime Oil Can.
Braime’s steel oil cans became world-renowned bringing orders from Adelaide, Melbourne, Rio de Janeiro, and Newfoundland and the business quickly grew. The rise of the motoring industry increased demand for metal pressings and soon larger premises were needed.
Here's a neat fact - The exacting task of soldering the pressed steel pressings, essential to the oil can’s integrity, was mostly performed by women. Loved this when I did some research.
This is their model "O'' type seamless oil can that was made from 1938 to 1960.
I tried to do the paint as close to the original, the original colors were minty blue and mint green. I chose to go with light blue.
I did not do a perfect restoration as I think the dents and rusted pitting adds to the age and character of the oil can. I also left the copper/brass badge dented and only slightly cleaned it to add to the old look and feel.

Congratulations, a magnificent work, I would like to have old things like this to restore in my country, but here to find things like this it's easier to see pigs flying high in the sky unfortunately

You should do a "re-restoration" of this oil can to showcase your improvement and show the before, first restoration, and final products.

Hi. Can I ask what colour blue is that. Sounds like a daft question but I just wondered if it was a random choice or is it what the company would have used.
