I have converted two fatbikes about to convert my third a Rocky Mountain Blizzard A10 2023 with a Bafang BBSHD and 52V 20Amph battery . The first one was a Louis Garneau Fat bike with a Cyclone Motor. the second was an RSD Mayor Fatbike with the BBSHD . I love the Fatbikes with the BBSHD. They are four season fun Machines .
I converted my mountain bike to an electric bike in the spring. It wasn't hard work. The bike is great to ride. I used a Bafang 750w mid-motor kit and the battery is 48V 19.2Ah with LG cells. Fun bike.
Thanks for this guide, hopefully it will help some folks. For people really new to this, a note about selecting the correct bottom bracket size might be helpful. Also a note about adding the optional bafang shift sensor to cut the power during shifts to minimize chain damage (although it can be a hassle).
I bought a used specialized rockhopper expert 29 2021 and put a bafang HD 52-17 and the only problem is finding time to rip around. Thanks to Abas and golden motors!
Does this setup have real pedal assist? I mean, does it sense when you are turning the pedals and give you power automatically , or you have to adjust how much power you get with the throttle? I hope you understand my question 🙂
Great Tutorial buddy I love how you say its not a big deal at the end of something that could be a problem, I bet about 70% of people who attempt building this will be OCD so you it helps. Thanks from London
Would you give advice on controller upgrades? I am interested to see if any controllers exist that are (a) minimal/non-intrusive and (b) bluetooth to enable connectivity to good apps on IOS. The long term desire is to find a riding/mapping app that can not only log GPS and other gps related stats, but also integrate information coming off the e-bike.
Where do I get all the upgraded parts you used?. If I buy this motor I want the same upgraded parts your using opposed to what comes with the motor stock.
It'll work for you no doubt. I know some people getting around on 500 watt hub motors just fine. You can put those mid drives in low gear incline hills no problem
I really enjoyed watching your conversion video! I think you did an excellent job. You seem like a very mature young man. I was wondering if I could get your opinion on something. Where I live, things are sort of in an uproar right now over the increase of the electric motorized bicycles and so forth. There is an obvious niche of folks who can really utilize them to help them through injuries, old age and so forth. However, there seem to be many abuses by the younger group of people riding them. Recently, statistics came out about how many injuries and deaths are occurring in our community involving these machines. It was not a very good report, to say the least. So, here's my question to you. Where do you see things going with the advent of these motorized vehicles? Of course one camp says we need more regulations and education while the other camp says things are just fine the way they are. I'm interested in getting your take. Thanks.
I'm confused how can you tell which Bafang motor you got? I thought I purchased the 750w motor but the sticker states 250w BBSO1? Does bafang have a website to check S/N for model?
That frame is nice in that the brake and shifter cables route near the cross frame tube and not close to the bottom bracket. If cables run under the BB then it is much harder to install a mid drive motor. Anyone know of some tips to install motor in BB when cables are routed externally and run underneath the bottom bracket? Thanks for the updated video bruh!

I converted both of my Trek bikes with the Bafang 750w motor a few years ago and with no issues... so much fun flying at 35mph

Very cool!
How are you liking it so far? Is the battery keeping a good change
What’s ur max speed?😊

I did the same thing to my north rock fat bike but with a 1500w rear hub motor. super fun on trails and parks.

Great video, short, no BS, great cuts. Really enjoyed it :)
Damn this seems so easy. Let me go ahead and fully commit to building one.

Thank you for zooming in. I was squinting trying to watch the install.

Is it true these motors does not work with a rear hub brake?
Can you convert a mtb with 24 gears ?
you didnt show what to order, measure crankshaft size hmm
Can this be done if the bike has front derailer?
Will it fit the Schwinn taff or Schwinn dp
A question, want to convert my Salsa fatbike, do I need to change the change ring for a specific reason? Or can I run the stock ring.
Why did you change the chain ring? Higher top speed?
Where do I get all the upgraded parts you used?. If I buy this motor I want the same upgraded parts your using opposed to what comes with the motor stock.
I have a Schwinn Biggity fat bike and i am interested on what parts do you recommend me on converting my bike?
Could i see how you set up ur sensor in your hydraulic brake
What if i want to use my hydraulic brake levers instead of the break levers that came with it?
hello, i have a fat bike like yours but i also am fat lol i weight around 350 pounds, would this work for me too, or will i need something stronger?

what bike are you using ?thanks.

will this kit fit a regular BMX bike?
Are you in the Detroit area by chance? This area looks like a place I lived around Detroit MI for 6 years.
I immediately recognized it as Detroit. The mix of brick and sided houses with that particular architecture. Hard to miss if you're from here!

I live in a place with several steep slopes, my concern is the torque and speed climbing these hills.
Can i get a full cost estimate including tax for this exact build (bike, mid drive, battery, etc?)
Whats the name of bike
Kinda want to know what happens if you put a tesla battery and motor in it...
yo loved the video but next time make the audio a bit better. even if u have to voice over. you kept getting quite and loud randomly :P
