My ideal X-men line up for the MCU
    Cyclops - leader
Jean Grey - Telepath and voice of reason
    Storm - Second in command
Angel - Air and financial support
    Iceman - Comic Relief
    Kitty Pryde - Surrogate character*
Professor X and Beast - Mentors**
Villains: The Sentinels (created by Bolivar Trask and Henry Gyrich) with Magneto starting as villain but becoming a anti-hero***
    * The film could be told by Kitty Pryde's POV, with her being the new member who (alongside the public) is introduce to the MCU X-men.
** Taking inspiration from X-men Evolution, I would have Xavier and Hank acting as mentors for the team, with the movie having a My Hero Academia style, focusing on the old generation of mutants training the new heroes, showing the X-men growing from inexperient teenagers to capable heroes
*** Taking inspiration from an RUclipsr's pitch I saw, I would not have Magneto leading the brotherhood. Instead he would be more a loner revolutionary, with the film main theme about teamwork and finding a group of family. While the X-men arc woulbe be about them coming together as team, the villains would represent the opposite: Magneto, despite being powerful, would be alone which eventually give the X-men an advantage in the final battle while Trask and Gyrich would seem to have the same goal could eventually start arguing about their approachs, with Trask being more well meaning, creating the Sentinels only to deal with evil mutants like Magneto, while Gyrich is just a ignorant bigot, wanting to use the Sentinels to capture all mutants and has no care for the innocents who are caught in the crossfire.

They should start with the original X-men, including a non furry beast, then have an evil organization launch an attack on mutants. The effects on mutants with vary from death to triggering a secondary mutation, like changing Iceman From his original snowy form to his ice covered form and which would make Hank McCoy , turn blue and furry. This attack would provide the motivation for Magneto's battle against the humans.

Great idea. As X-men fan myself I really feel the original 5 needs to be adapt in live action film, with the Giant Size team (wolverine Storm, Nightcrawler and Colossus) could be introduce in the sequel, giving Scott a new arc, with him having to adapt to this new members who, unlike his previous team, are all adults and don't have the same respect for him as Jean and his friends.
Just one question: How would you explain Magneto's age in the MCU continuity, considering that he's an holocaust survivor and the MCU takes place in 2025?

    • @Superhero_Legacy

I really like what you said about cyclops and I think that would be cool! And maybe he could have been blipped so that would cut 5 years off his aging. But I don’t mind if he’s on older man- he’s that way in the comics

    • @therandominfochannel6619
      @therandominfochannel6619 6 месяцев назад

@@Superhero_Legacy yeah he's old in the comics but not really old. Magneto should ideally be around mid 50s to late 60s. The latest he might have been taken to a concentration camp would have been like 1944, and he would have had to be old enough to remember the atrocities and it leave a permanent mark on his life. So at minimum around 4 to 6 years old. Even if he was snapped, that would put him at around 80 to 82 years old. If he's going to be part of the MCU for awhile, he's going to be in his 90s before it's over. That's just too old for anything but late stage, near the end of his story Magneto. You also have to consider that Magneto and Xavier are peers. If you get 80 to 90 year old Magneto, you also get 80 to 90 year old Xavier. It's unlikely that both of them would live that long and both still have strong healthy minds and bodies to be leaders and sometimes soldiers in their war.

@@Superhero_Legacy Personally I would go with an idea I saw that Magneto would be a holocaust survivor and an activist in the 60's who was capture by Hydra and put on suspend animation (very similar to Bucky) until he was saved and awaken by Xavier, becoming the first mutant the professor rescued. The two would live together and become friends, but eventually, as Magneto watch events happening in the world, specially in relation to mutants, he begins to belive that history is repeating itself and decide to take a more active role in the fight for mutants rights, resulting in him and Xavier going their separate ways.

For the MCU my first team id like to see angel, night crawler, shadowcat, storm, cyclops, jean, beast or forge, and colossus. The way I see it angel and nightcrawler would be perfect visually as a contrast of good and evil with one looking like an angel and one looking like a demon. That could explain how regular humans look at them. Angel could explain how they have enough money for the tech and mansion. Shaowcat as the new student that comes in and the movie can explain the x men. Cyclops as the leader and storm as second in command, I say beast or forge because 2 blue furry people at once might be too much. Colossus as the heavy hitter and love interest for shadowcat. Jean and storm could be the strong, motherly characters shadow cat looks up.

Xavier needs to be put back in the background.
Xavier, Magneto, Mystique and Wolverine being the main characters of the Fox films is a huge reason why they don't reflect the spirit of the original work, especially Claremont's, whose 16 year arc is the epitome of what the X-men are, character driven stories about a makeshift family of powerful yet flawed outsiders caught between a war and a dream.
With that said, while I am a Cyclops and Jean grey devotee .. I think to fit why the X-men are not in the MCU they should go another route:
Our everyman should be a time traveling Bishop, who arrives in an X-men less MCU ... but then is located and found by a X-men team in hiding, more akin to the mutant massacre/outback x-men.
The Team: Storm, Wolverine, Rouge, Collosus, Nightcrawler, Psylocke, and Kitty pryde.
Through the story .. we learn how the present came to be .. what happened to the other X-men/mutants ... find Cyclops .. The X-men traitor being the villain.

I like his idea too, because like me, I think of whatever the story would be that explores answers to the unspoken question of what caused a mass disappearance, steady abduction or prevention of mutants, to the point only a few appear too powerful to mess with or too new to be caught up in the thing responsible yet.
I think multiverse could be another approach, like an X-23 being brought post-Logan by Deadpool from that timeline and her looking to pay it forward by freeing the MCU Logan from the clutches of the top secret Weapon Plus facility then uncovering that the OG X-Men and Brotherhood were in suspended animation tanks as well since the 80s (a story point meant to preserve Magneto's age in the 50s if he was meant to have been born 1930 and experienced concentration camps). Undoing Weapon Plus's shenanigans (e.g., nanite Sentinels preventing the X-gene activation in 99% of the population) can then lead to modern mutants for the older ones to interact with.
Bishop and time travel instead of X-23 universe transplanted fits for this for sure, but I've spent way too much time over the years 😅 coming up with 10+ MCU encompassing angles to bring them to the forefront.

    • @erickenneycreative
      @erickenneycreative 5 месяцев назад

@@bajansamurai a simple answer of where the mutants are and have been is The Savage Land.
I've always thought Mark Millars Ultimate X-men used the savage land amazingly in the setup of the series.
Essentially having a mutant kingdom, a brotherhood, there hidden from humanity, run by Magneto and Xavier.
Disagreement between Magneto and Xavier led to Xavier trying to escape and Magneto crippling him. Xavier then founds the X-men.
I think you could use a similar setup but give it a mystery bent. Have a ragtag team of X-men in hiding not just from humans but from Magneto and the Mutant kingdom in the Savage Land. Let the story be a mystery unraveling from the point of view of Bishop. Where are mutants? What happened to Xavier? What happened to cyclops and Jean? What is the Savage Land? What happened to create the current struggle/tension.
You could have Cyclops and Jean in hiding in the human world with an infant son maybe post the death of Xavier or the mutant split in The Savage Land. His story could be a tragedy as the team seeks him and is pulled back in. Maybe he loses Jean or baby Nathan to future as a result.
Or maybe we meet him on Magnetos side in the Savage land and the story finds him struggling with truths and loyalties eventually rejoining the X-men.

    • @bajansamurai
      @bajansamurai 5 месяцев назад

@@erickenneycreative Yeah, the Savage Land angle was one I contemplated too, so that works and would fit the MCU mold of Wakanda and Talokan where the BP/Wakandans and Namor/Talokani aways existed but had reason to stay hidden away from the world.
I just don't stick on it through the lens of just one character because who knows what will inspire whoever's writing anyway? Bishop is a great entry point to discovering them though.
Savage Land is fairly interchangeable with Krakoa, Utopia, Genosha or Asteroid M for that hidden away place they're all gathered, but most of my takes consider a way for Magneto to be still spry in present time without introducing some unknown slow-aging power yet born early enough for the holocaust survivor history to stay intact.

    • @erickenneycreative
      @erickenneycreative 5 месяцев назад +1

@@bajansamurai also with Savage land having primitive human you could make Magneto a hypocrit as he used them like slaves. This could be a huge point that drove a wedge between he and Xavier.
Use Bishop like hes used in Age of Apocalypse or like how Woverine is the audiences pov in the OG X-men film or Jubilee in the animated series.

The only part I disagree on is Magneto. He was never genocidal enough in the Fox movies, instead focusing on his friendship with Xavier. But in the comics, he was a far scarier and more sinister monster (which makes his quasi-redemption arcs far more compelling). Magneto’s not Malcolm X. He’s a holocaust survivor who became his own Hitler. (Also, the X-men need to be teens in the first movie). Likewise, a standalone Weapon X movie (complete with Sabertooth and the Hulk) would be the best way to introduce Wolverine long before he actually intersects with the X-men.
The mutants in the MCU also need to be overwhelmingly scary, random people corrupted by sudden incredible power, establishing them as hated freaks before Xavier shows that they’re not evil (and a teen Rogue should be one of these evil mutants).

Nicely laid out and I completely understand your rationale. If they went this route I wouldn't complain because I have a soft spot for starting with the classics then branching out; however, I do have a spin on this (one of several) that I think gets at some of your take mixed with the reality of what they would be tempted to do (i.e., have Wolverine involved).
I submit that there's a variation that recognizes the original team, the First Class (young adult Scott, Jean, Hank and Warren, and teen Bobby), as his original MCU X-Team, carrying out his dream, but that the introductory story is based on an early encounter with the Shadow King in Africa where Xavier is going to track down Ororo for the first time.
Long story short, Shadow King has possession of Krakoa in a hidden dimensional rift and has been luring mutants into captivity and suspension in amber for centuries as energy resources. The few powerful minds he can't lure he goes for personally, leading to his clash with Ororo and Xavier; however, in present day when Hank has helped Xavier create Cerebro, they uncover this and get drawn to Krakoa to save mutants. After the team's disappearance, a last message gets to Storm who is connected to a network of other mutants around the world who collaborate with Xavier but weren't part of his Westchester school (basically the Second Genesis team from Giant Sized X-Men #1; i.e., Storm, Wolverine, Nightcrawler, Banshee, Sunfire, Thunderbird and Colossus).
This approach would honor the original X-Men as Xavier's first team, but allow for Storm to get a bit more focus this time around; then usher in the "return" of mutants who were literally abducted decades to centuries earlier, preserved to the present day, and now have to integrate with society except for one hurdle: the United Nations and some Avengers arrive to cordon off Krakoa until they can assess if this suddenly revealed island full of enhanced beings will be a threat to the world. From there we can spin into multiple projects and I propose this:
    1. "Wolverine: X-Force" spin-off, including Deadpool and Colossus, joined by an altered Angel and Beast, now blue, on a mission that ties into a past event in Wolverine's history with Weapon Plus (a parent company of the Winter Soldier program)
    2. A "Storm: Nation X" sequel, where Storm, Xavier, Iceman and several returned mutants are navigating conflicts with modern MCU threats while trying to reintegrate the "Krakoans" or protect the nation state
    3. And as we now know, Krakoa is half of the original Okkara form of Grove, the other half, Arakko, is left in the dimensional rift, and that's where Cyclops, Jean and others continue the story of rescuing even more mutants. I believe this presents an opportunity to be explored on Disney+ as a live action series with more room to eventually tackle the Phoenix saga. Also, at various points, some of the 'rift' mutants can cross back over to the big screen.
    Either way, here's my SUB!

There could also maybe a compromise to have the second cast being in the background as other more novices students still in training or maybe they are traveling the world, or the USA, to try recue them from some anti mutant group or the Sentinels?

@@Superhero_Legacy You just cant bring original X man team with original premise in current MCU universe (to do so you must done it back in first Iron Man movie time period). Why? Well, main reason to this is that in current MCU there is no establish "mutant problem" (strong hate that divide society apart and give reason for X man and Brotherhood of Mutants to exist in first place)
      .
My take - it would be better if we take Krakoa choice to introduce mutant society. Premise is simple - There WAS HUGE mutant problem after WW2, and shit was boiled to the critical point , when Charles Xsavier wipe humanity memory about mutant existence out and mutants isolate themself on remote island with some sort of barrier. But some cataclysmic event happened which break everything - humanity remember about the humans and Mutant nation force to survive in tense relationship with whole world

Cyclops and Storm could be leading opposing teams, trying to carry on Xavier’s vision. That immediately creates conflict. The comics have shown Cyclops can be homicidal like Mags. If the climax of Captain Marvel/Bree Larson's storyline isn't Rogue sucking so much of her energy that she's put ino a coma... what are we doing here? We have to go there. And Storm NEEDS to be there. She just does. And we need to see her unleash all her power.
sure, we could start from scratch anf have a slow rolling build up - yes, the culmination of Angel's arc being Apocalypse and becoming Death/Archangel would be epic and gaggy, but we're too far along. We have to o from where we are NOW and write the story backwards from here, and Rogue x Captain Marvel would be a MOMENT on par with the Thanos snap/Han being frozen in carbonite. We need it. I want it. lol

Agreed. Feige and the MCU should go back to the egg regarding the inclusion of mutants in the MCU. Although it creates a bit of a conflict regarding Wanda, Pietro and their daddy, Magneto. Something that could easily be retconned for the fanboys and girls, but for your atypical moviegoer, will need to be presented in a way they all can wrap their heads around, since retconning and resurrection aren't concepts easily swallowed.

If we did do an original 5, I could see it being a prologue thing. However, I want them to bring in their “hidden” (read trafficked) member; Sage. That character was originally Tessa from the Hellfire club but, when Claremont came back in the 2000’s, he gave her the backstory of being Sebastian Shaw’s attaché (who she’s made to sleep with) as her undercover identity of Tessa. Xavier kept her in the basement for years after she saved him in the Hindu Kush.
If we do have Angel, we need his Girl Friday; The icon, the legend, Candy Southern.
Now, would the X men believe that it was a children of the Atom situation or the X-gene?
Because there’s a certain villain duo who I’d be tempted to use but one of them is… a character that is just disgusting; the Mandrill and Nekra.
As for actual students, Kitty is the obvious pick but, if we do a period piece, Karma works well.
If we had a more Modern setting, characters like Gen X’s Synch and Monet or Academy X’s Prodigy and Dust would work.

      @@Superhero_Legacy Thanks.
Honestly, the fox movies annoyed me because the characters, outside of Xavier, Magneto and Wolverine, didn’t feel like the characters.
I mean, you have Mystique in the same movie as Rogue and/or Nightcrawler and they’re not her kids?
And no Destiny either? Tsk tsk.
The mandrill and Nekra thing was more of a joke. But a fun villain would be Sauron.
If they did a modern setting, the U-men would be a fantastic villain. I mean, after decades of people knowing mutants are a thing, they’d begrudgingly realise they weren’t going away. So, the U-men would step up and do their vivisection… but I’d do it if Emma has her broken nose rampage and if Martha Johanson has the last laugh.
If we wanted to veto Baron Zemo not being in Hydra and it just being a ruse, we could definitely bring in Thing Ein und Zwei: the Lannisters of Hydra, Fenris.

I appreciate your intentions here, but there's no way in hell they would make anything X-men without Logan. That's literally shooting themselves in the foot from the get go. He is by FAR the most well known and popular member of the team. Hell he's one of the most popular (and money-making) superheroes ever. So he's gotta be in it. You can certainly shift some of the focus off him and on to the rest of the team though. That would be nice.

Unfortunately, the current writers of these movies have regressed back to 90s superheroes movie writing tropes. Where all subtlety is abandoned and you are beaten over the head with all this messaging that often has nothing to do with the story you're watching or character driven motivations. Now every female character must talk about some problem women have, diverse characters have to point out how diverse they are. Movie promos are more concerned about what the actor is than the character they play. Everything about the movies is like scrolling through a twitter timeline. Which really sucks that this is the time when the X-Men are going to be rebooted. You can be sure when they show up, they'll not have much in similarity with the comic book versions. And while that's not necessarily a bad thing, looking at what's been coming out of Marvel Studios lately, the prognosis is not good.

10000000000% agree, they really do need to start from scratch. NONE of the actors from Fox needs to come over to the reboot. It will be insanely disappointing if they do bring those actors over. Also agree that Cyclops should be the "star character" of the team NOT Wolverine. IDGAF how popular Wolverine is I really enjoy the X-men without him hogging up the screen time. Also I agree with the OG team being the starter team and my ONLY "note" is that when they do start from scratch they NEED to start with young actors, no one over 30 imo. Aside from Professor X of course.
