- Radiologic Technology at Montgomery College:
Radiologic technologists, also known as radiographers, perform diagnostic imaging examinations, such as x-rays, on patients. The job outlook is expected to grow by 12% in the next ten years, and the 2017 median pay is $58,440. Learn to become a radiologic technologist in just two years by enrolling in Montgomery College's Radiologic Technology program.
The mission of the Radiologic (X-Ray) Technology Program parallels the mission of MC. Students who enter and complete the Radiologic Technology Program are empowered to change their own lives as well as enrich the life of the local and global community as skilled, critically thinking, competent radiographers who possess integrity, accountability, empathy, a strong commitment to excellent customer service, and patient care skills while serving a diverse community.
This is a two-year program. Students begin in the summer for nine weeks (summer session), then complete fall (15 weeks) and spring (15 weeks) semesters for their first year. Students attend a second nine week summer session as they transition to their second year. They complete the program with a fall (15 week) and a spring (15 week) semester, and graduate in May. Please note that there are general education credits required for the AAS degree awarded for completion of this program.

It is a wonderful path to do radiologic technology jobs Especially if you get trained an MRI you can make a lot of money and you can also do traveling work as well which pays you a lot more
This is my FAVORITE explanation of what we do in a video under seven minutes. It's hard to figure out what to say and what to leave for an advanced explanation. Rad Techs do SO much in the healthcare arena that most people have no idea how much we do.
Im 37 and looking a for a technical job, one that requires me to think and problem solve, and work with patients and a team. It sounds like Radiologic Technologist fits the bill
yes, I am 36 and back in school to pursue Radiography.
I am a recent graduate of Medical technical radiology
How much time for this program ?
@@anassbarim9826 I looked at my local community College and it's a 2 year program
If pursuit of radiologist would you pursue the technologist degree first and then move on to medical school? Or in premed or?
l like the radiology tecnology
Nobody pointed out the zipper artifact in the opening pelvic x-ray....
The thumbnail shows 3 errors. The first is including the face, neck and chest in a lateral skull projection. The second is including the lower leg and ankle in feet xrays. The third is a pelvis where the legs are rotated 15 degrees external rather than internal and including the lower 3 lumbar vertebra.
I've completed diagnostic radiography from Nepal .Do I have to join radiologic technology to study radiology in the USA?

I have a question for anyone in this field. I'd like to transition into a healthier career that involves lots of specialized skills but also a fair bit of physical work in a clean environment and I hear rad tech might fit the bill. How much standing, walking and moving about in a hospital setting do rad tech do in a typical shift? What about other physical duties such as setting up imaging equipment and helping to move patients physically (covid safely of course)?
Boii u don't how physically demanding this job is!! haha prepare urself to not only be standing on ur feet the whole day without resting sometimes but u move patients a lot- and so u need to ensure ur back isnt compromised as u transfer. Your job is basically to quickly and efficiently take people's xrays as much as it demands.
Looking like 15-20,000 steps a day ;0
@@cocogoat7667that’s a good workout tho… standing and walking 🚶 actually a good workout
I use Gamma Radiation, the worst one, for cancer treatments on myself.
It has to be Gamma, because I don't want to go through therapy more than like 4 or 5 times ever, for stage 3 cancer, and, because I want to do it at home.
So, gamma, is a wave, and you can direct it like a magnifying glass, and with the right distance to target, or lead sheeting, you can decide where the gamma rays end up.
And, if they stay inside the patient, then it reduces exposure to the surrounding area and doctors and other patients.
Because with the right medicine, it passes through the body, being reduced in intensity, until it gets to the sewer.
Other kinds aren't as easy to direct.
Interesting that it is called Gamma radiation. This comes from nuclear physics where it is the 3rd stage of atomic particle decay.
Although it isn't a particle, it's a ray of light basically, akin to x rays, uv light, and visible light.
Hello I see alot of sonography and x ray videos about this. Which one is it sonography or x ray/mri... or do u specialize into those fields
I'd like to know if there is free online course to study medical radiography.
This video pertains to Radiologic Technology. Diagnostic Sonography is a similar but seperate field. Both programs are typically offered at community colleges
I have a question for anyone in this field, I'm a foreign graduated rad tech legally moving to the US soon I just wanna know if there's any bridging programs that I can go through in order to be able to set for the ARRT exam knowing that I have 6 years of experience.
Hlo ...I am from India ...I recently graduated from my high schl ..I really interested in this course nad clge ....??can I apply after high schl or after certain course ..plz reply
Bro where I live there’s no schools that offer a x ray program the only one is 40 minutes away and they only accept a certain amount of students and there’s already a waitlist I have no option but to do limited 😂😂😂😂
I live in a big city so there are a few programs near me, but they all have waitlists.
I drove that amount of time and more both ways to go to tradeschool at 17, dont let it stop you
@@Bellpower20 what city do you live in?
Pay for rad techs varies widely depending on where you live and the corporate culture there. Be sure and look into it before you spend two years in school and pass your registry only to find out you’ll never make as much as a registered nurse.
where could i found out about this
@@Jordan-vs4cy You would need to talk to someone in your local area. If you can do observation for a few hours at a Hospital, that would be ideal. Ask the techs you meet how the company treats them and if they feel they're paid fairly compared to other professions.
@Deborah Oyebade thank, I really appreciate the help

Does anyone help me .do you have materials for exams?
I am recent graduate of Medical technical radiology
I wanna work abroad
Check J1 visa programs. All the best.
Can you work full time during the program or is it not realistic?
Hi, to answer your question, most rad tech programs actually ask during the admissions process if you work, as they strongly recommend that students don’t work at all during the two year program because between the classroom instruction and clinical experience, it totals the time of a full time job on a weekly basis. Hope this answers that.
This material is a fountain of creativity and new thinking. A book I read with comparable themes guided my personal evolution. "A Life Unplugged: Reclaiming Reality in a Digital Age" by Theodore Blaze
I see that in most countries they work 8
hours a day or 40 hours a week, in my country is 6 hours a day or 30 hours a week, and you can work 12 hours a day but then you have more rest days.
My question is why do they work 40 hours in a week?
They try to do it in our country too, the reason is newer devices have less radiation.
And then someone is released from work because of radiation, we cannot give blood because we are in the radiation zone, etc.
Because here in the U.S 40 hrs a week is "full-time" were then you can get the benefits
@@fuckoff5616 Yes. But in NYS it depends on the employer. Nothing compensates “full time here”. That’s up to the discretion of the employer. Some consider 30 hours full time, some part time. Others 32-35 hours and more, some 38-40 after breaks basically.
Is there is any danger of working in this field ? ( Radiation)
Because capitalism
@@guernanei4179There are ways you can protect yourself from this "radiation"

Are technologist exposed to getting cancer from working there ??
There's exposure from radiation simply by being outdoors in the sunlight.
Working in the Radiologic Technologist career field, there's lots of PPE that limits exposure to radiation.

I have the knowledge, I have the Smarts. I just don't have the patience to deal with stupid people at the school
Definitely isn't the path for you if you feel comfortable calling people you don't even know stupid, for no reason. You have to work with patients and if you lack empathy it wouldn't be a good job for you.
