I had this on VHS, I used to watch it all the time when I was a kid. Thank you for posting it. One of New Kids on the Block's classic TV performances at the height of their fame - new kid mania forever!
They would give New Edition a run for their money with a performance like that!
I remember staying up late to watch this. I was supposed to be studying for a test but screw that, lol! Still love them today!! And it's funny, I think I do those same dance moves in Zumba class now, ha ha!
Apparently, they actually ARE the biggest group since the Beatles. I wanted to understand this myself because I haven't been around since the time of the Beatles. But I do remember girls going crazy over these guys, the New Kids. So I researched this. It looks like no other group since the Beatles have caused such hysteria across the world until New Kids. Part of this is because they had so much merchandise &covered a wide audience. All in all, Arsenio was quite accurate about their popularity.

The best thing about this is that even though New Kids On The Block were striving for perfect choreography in a 1991 kind of way---all choreography in 2023 is so puppet-like and robotic---they're aren't totally in sync (by today's standards) so it actually looks imperfect, which is captivating to watch

One more thing. During their time, they were the top music act in the world...even bigger than MJ and Madonna. And they were the highest paid entertainers in the world at that point because of ticket sales from concerts and albums and merchandise. It seemed a stretch to me too for Arsenio to say that, but he is on point. The other thing is, the New Kids are arguably the biggest phenomenon since the The Beatles to THIS day. The only other act to garner such similar response is Backstreet Boys.

donnie. joey, and jordan WERE mew kids. I always thought jon and danny were nothing but dead weight.
Jon is kind of just a filler, however Danny's voice is the bass you hear and the harmony wouldnt be the same without him.

Jordan, Donnie and Joe were the singers and carried the group! Jon and Danny were just warm bodies, space fillers! When Jon left to deal with whatever he was going through, the other guys were like so what! He's gone! No big deal! I'm sorry to say this, but if you couldn't tell that Jon was gay even back then,something was wrong with you! If you still can't see it today, you need you eyes and ears checked because the man flames! Don't act like you can't hear it! Come on y'all! LOL!
Jon and Danny were not just fillers, they were entertainers and super performers, they could really dance also they were ok singers and back singer. Without ALL of them NKOTB wouldn't exist, they were all value for the psychological and strength of a boy band, they respect and protect each other like brothers unlike you have never seen in other manufactured boy band.
NKOTB is Jon, Jordan, Donnie, Danny and Joe - they have a chemistry that can’t be manufactured. They are brothers-in-arms and thank God no ego trips - they’re relationship allows for each to shine and I think that’s the strength of NKOTB. 30+ years strong now. They are all talented, every one of them, they just had to grow up and boy did they! 😍
I remember about 2 or 3 years after this, the same white girls cheering for the new kids suddenly became obsessed with black people, started dating black guys, listening to rapp music. having black babies..and its been a downward spiral ever since
