Dogsledder captures meteor on video after 'explosive' boom rattles Central NY

- A large boom, reported as an “explosion,” was heard all across Central NY Wednesday, Dec. 2, 2020. The explosive sound was likely caused by a meteor. Bekka Gunner, of Untamed Adventure Dogs in Holland, N.Y., caught the meteor on video in Erie County while out sledding with her dogs.

For the curious: the first thing she says in the video is "On by," which is a command to the dogs to go past whatever was distracting them.

I see it too! It's 3 birds then looks like 2 birds.. I cant tell if it's a light refraction or what.. I watch 5 times or so .. Still looks weird! . but I see it & noticed that too.
Look 5 more times although they look like birds..the point is that they appear out of nowhere. You don't see them coming, they appear

The window was open I heard and felt that thing. And on my birthday no doubt. Actually I caught glimpse of that one meteor/asteroid that flew between us and the moon the other month ago.

If it was birds, why do they suddenly appear? That part of the sky is blank until the meteor disappears, and then the black spots appear out of nowhere. If it was birds, I think you'd be able to see them before they suddenly change course and become visible.

No, it was just going faster than the shutter speed could capture. Even filming outside the window in a speeding car can cause telephone poles to split in half or appear slanted due to the shutter speed, which may go horizontal or vertically depending if it’s digital or physical.

Shooting stars can be seen during the day just fine, but ones that big are a bit more on the rare side as they're much larger than the grain of sand sized ones you'd see in the early morning hours.
