I remember back in the day (like around 2014) i used to mess around with 90 corollas, 88-thru 2008 most of them are interchangeable From the Tercel/Corolla/scionXa/ScionXB/Echo/Yaris/Celica and Paseo, and a lot of JDM parts, i had a bunch of transmissions and parts I was always worried about putting everything back together because of this 🙏🏼 Nice Vid, straight to business 🔥
Impressive you did all this. I’m an ASE certified mechanic and most of the job was correct. There were a couple ways to get stuff off easier and put them back on easier but I understand the doublechecking and taking it slow to make sure it goes together all correctly and torqued to proper specs. I can appreciate the dedication to not give up and learning a new skill instead of biting the bullet and buying a new/used trans to install yourself or have a shop install. Probably saved $2k at least on parts and labor. At my shop I would have charged around $2300 for this whole job with a used transmission that would be somewhere in the $600-$1100 range. Or $3500 for a reman trans that cost $2200 by itself 😂 Here in Nashville parts have been going up in the last two years. Have no idea why since everything has gone back to normal and covid is gone! 😂😂😂
@@calebvigil5908 oh no!!! Good luck. There is a cheap version and a more expensive version depending on your VIN number. There is a slight difference between the two parts. It should show a photo in this video or the next of the part I bought
I am doing my 2005 and have an extra c-clip like (but just a tad larger than) the one that goes on top of the output shaft above the 5th gear mechanism. It was in a baggie in the same proximity to the end gears. I have a schematic from the dealer and the closest part I see to this clip shoes one above the bearing but below the spacing ring under the needle bearing. There is no slot on my shaft for a clip to set in, just the spacing washer like in the video. There is not a second c-clip that large in this video either. I'm going to have to finish assembly with an extra part which is pretty scary.
@@MR2trader oooo that sounds a bit freaky.... it's been awhile since i filmed this but I remember there being a few clips on top Probably one for each shaft and then on the shift fork pieces. I think they are around 1/2" or 1.2cm thick silver rods that go up and down when you shift gears. Rewatch my disassembly video and see if you catch the spots where I remove all my clips.
OMG, I am having a major problem with the shift lever assembly, I cannot get it in the transmission. My mistake was accidently taking it out when doing replacing my clutch and so far its been 2 days I attempted to put it in and nothing yet. It is difficult to line it up. An its even worse because I have to figure out what neutral is because I left my transmission in first gear when I parked it when I started the clutch replacement...
Nice! Good to see a transmission rebuild. I do have a question tho, does 5th gear feel a bit loose? I did a 5th swap and did everthing correctly but I am worried about that. Snap.ring went in beautifully with no problems as well as gears and hub. I feel playin the gear behind 5th hub. Thanks!
@WeBuildStuff I just wanted some insight on whether or not something might be off. Tomorrow, I'll disassemble the 5th gear again to check for any abnormalities. Thank you!
thanks for filming and editing all this!

I literally just made the same mistake and now I get to try to find that part 🙃

Mine all pressed together tightly (to specific measurements) and no play for me. You don't have any leftover parts do you..... 🙃
@WeBuildStuff absolutely nothing. Everything went on smooth, and the retainer clip went on easy. I've driven 100 miles and currently driving 🫣

@@tamara7859 I'm not a mechanic but I did figure my bearing issue out and save 2 grand instead of paying someome else. Wish I could help!
