    Ayy man I’m happy to see you have a cat with you. I’m actually really close to beginning my trucking career and I may go with Knight to start my career and obtain my CDL from them. Do you happen to know if there are restrictions on other animals you can bring with you on the road when you go solo?

    • @The_Handies

      Pretty much no trucking company will give you wifi. However, there are hotspots and that Is what I use.

    • @The_Handies
      @The_Handies  3 года назад +1

      @@Ahannaa I would reccomend going with something like nomad internet or otrmobile. I use nomad internet. It's a little expensive your first month. However, it's truly unlimited with no throttling. I go through 400 to 600gb a month on it. I use my phone as a back up.

    Cool vid man! I think I go on the road with my trainer sometime this weekend. Hopefully Monday. Any tips on what to bring?

    • @The_Handies
      @The_Handies  4 года назад +3

      A couple weeks of clothes. Sleeping bag and pillow. A warm coat. First month will suck. However it will move by quickly. A good trainer will try to help you out in every way possible, just don't expect it. Also, make sure you're subbed and join my discord. Discord.gg/handies. Being on the road can get lonely. So, having people to chat with helps. You can also post pictures or ask questions, or just get a hold of me there.

      I also do have a video geared towards what to bring out on the road. It's more meant for solo drivers after you get your truck and it's a tad longer. Next weeks video is winter geared and I can't reccomend that one enough. Another longer video, but goes over so many conditions

    Have they put APU's in their trucks yet? Are there still idling restrictions? I saw a few years ago where a guy said they did not have APU's and had idling restrictions which meant it had to like below 40 degrees or above 80 before the truck would idle so you could run heat or air. That would be a deal-breaker for me. And what do they start straight out of school drivers at? I see Millis starts at .43. Some places are hitting .50-.55 after a few months.

    • @The_Handies
      @The_Handies  3 года назад +2

      No apu. Idle restrictions are in place. However, they don't have any idle policy. If you can trick your idle shutoff and keep your mpg up, they won't say anything. Every truck has a bunk heater. You're getting heat at least. Starts at .43.
