      I'm confused why would you donate the nasty stained shirts you don't want but proceed to SELL the GIFTED items instead of donating those. I wish people would understand that just because people are poor they don't deserve or shouldn't expect to get the leftovers you don't want because it's stained, worn etc.

    Also, in regards to not liking to sell stuff that you’ve gotten in PR: think of it as that company donating to in-need charities and foundations. Since you’re donating the profits, it’s not like you’re making a profit from a free item of clothing. Essentially you’re just the middle man between multimillion dollar corporations and a charitable donation!!!

    • @Lindzebra6
      @Lindzebra6 4 года назад +35

      The issue I see with this is when the seller claims the donation as a deduction on their taxes, which is a little shady since it wasn’t purchased with their own money.

    • @Lindzebra6
      @Lindzebra6 4 года назад +25

      kerri elizabeth Totally! I’m not saying Sierra does this, but I wanted to mention it as an issue that has come up with other influencers and the FTC guidelines. And if she does normally write off the Poshmark sales as a tax deduction, I can see how it could get confusing trying to leave the PR items out of that amount.

    i mean this in the nicest way possible but if something is stained/really dingy it’s not worth donating it!! no one wants to wear old stained clothing and it will just end up being thrown out by the thrift store you donate it to. you can turn clothing into rags to use around the house or even turn them into a material you can crochet with!! I don’t donate clothing that i wouldn’t personally wear due to stains/rips/etc and i highly recommend you do the same!! also this isn’t mean to be rude, i love your videos and they never fail to make me smile!!

I pack whatever season it isn't away and then when it is time to switch over it's like a nice surprise to find things again and my clothes seem exciting again because I haven't seen it and passed over it for months! I feel like it would be an amazing video to go through all the "keeps" again, but trying them on and seeing if you really still love them when they're on your body. For me, a huge part of decluttering is being honest with myself about how things make me feel when they're on my body, and I end up getting rid of so many clothes that just stress me out when I go to put them on and find they didn't fit as well as I thought they did. You might change your mind about some items, and rediscover some items that make you feel totally incredible!

      IMO it's tacky to donate a stained shirt. Like, "someone in need" does not need your garbage. If it's torn, worn out or stained the charity might just throw it out anyway. Better to keep it for hair dying, or cut it up for rags.

    My favorite videos are closet clean outs. I have a recommendation for you on organizing. I noticed you have seasonal pieces mixed in with your everyday wear. I recommend to separate out your closet and have the things you wear in hand and the other out of season items in a different section. It’s easier to see what you have, and you’ll end up wearing more forgotten clothes since they’re not lost in seasonal pieces. I actually put my pieces that our out of season away stored in canvas bags and bring them out when I’m ready. However your closet is big enough to separate them into sections. Love your videos!!

    Sierra, I thought you might want to know that rather than donating clothes that are stained/not in the best condition, you can bring them to a fabric recycling facility where they can reuse and repurpose the fabric from the damaged clothing. Especially since most thrift stores or places where people donate their clothes prefer it if you bring clothes in good condition.

    PSA: for everyone not just Sierra. When donating clothing if it has holes or stains it shouldn’t be donated. Look into finding a place to recycle or reuse the fabrics because think about it, what are you saying about the people that rely on donated clothing? That they don’t deserve something nice? It’s okay for people struggling financially to wear stained clothing? Consider donating items that are in good condition that you don’t use anymore. Anything that doesn’t sell in your poshmark, mercari, buffalo exchange or equivalent donate those items. People that rely on donated clothing deserve to have options that are clean and not falling apart.
    Thanks for attending my TedTalk

    Hey,
    Please don't take this as a insult.
    I really appreciate you donating so many items this is a tremendous help to those struggling, but also please be mindful that many of these clothing items will end up in homeless shelters. Although they do always need clothing it does add extra challenges trying to get items that are not stained/damaged for job/housing interviews and these interviews can make or break someone's chances of getting out of homelessness, especially with the average homeless time of 10 yrs. Also, having nice clothes can truly pick someone up who has so little and be incredibly ego altering to feel more human in such a terrible point in their lives.
    I've been working with this population over 10 yrs and you'd be amazed to see the difference a nice set of clothing can do.
    Thanks for all the good you do do!

    1: take everything off of the racks . It helps you get a better idea of the piece and makes you think if you are ever going to were it.

    3: listen to music a show ext. . It helps you focus and makes me not lose my mind.
