Yakiniku is Japanese style Korean food. This is not up for debate. I find it puzzling that in Japan they call “Chinese” food in Japan just Chinese food or Japanese style Chinese food but they don’t do the same for Korean food.
As a restauranteur of a Yakiniku establishment, I have to agree with you on this one. Yakiniku is learned from Koreans that immigrated to Okinawa by the locals and spread throughout Japan. But, like the ‘Tataki’ cooking method is learned from French cuisine’s searing technique, no one refers Tataki as French food.
I really enjoyed how you teach Japanese, as well as teaching about the different cuisines. 🙏💖🖖
Thank you for saying that! I really wish people can visit Japan ASAP.

There's no such thing as Japanese BBQ. Yakiniku is literally Korean BBQ. Koreans brought it to Japan.
