  • This episode I decided to go over some of the core baking ingredients and how they are used in baking. I wanted to help newer bakers out in understanding when and why certain types of ingredients, like different sugars are used in a recipe. Hopefully this episode gives you a quick but comprehensive overview of these common ingredients and allows you to bake with confidence!! Learning how to get some of these basic baking ideas and practices will help you get the most out of any recipe.

    sad that you missed out on another important fact concerninh brown and white sugar. white sugar lacks molasses,which plays an important role in structural integrity. many cookie recipes call for brown sugar to hold their form (or call for white sugar with added molasses as extra step). basically,if you dont want your cookie dough to "deflate" into a flat piece disk, use brown sugar,or add molasses. this may be beyond basics,but is ridiculously important to know

    Nice video, I appreciated it.
    I'm trying to get an understanding of baking ingredients to get the kind of wheat bread I want. I had hoped this video mentioned what eggs do to dough, since there are recipes with and without them.
