    I've been playing wheelchair basketball for the best part of 15 years (since I was 4) even tho I'm not a ♿user. I've been playing with some of my friends from primary /secondaryschool, college and work who are ♿ users, and I thoroughly enjoy it.

      Jess Gibbs I’ve just joined the sport and I’m wondering. Do you have to be disabled to enter into a wheelchair Basketball competition?

    I'm not a permanent wheelchair user. But I have poor mobility. This definitely inspires me to use my wheelchair to play basketball.

      Max Nelson some refs are super strict tho you'll get called if you even touch your rims a 3rd time. the ball has to hit the floor at least once per 2x you touch your rims.

    • @Darkenedbyshadows
      @Darkenedbyshadows 8 лет назад

      +Kewl Beans Where I play, in Finland, touching rim third time, even for turning or whatever will always be called travel. It's a bit insane :P

    • @kewlbns69
      @kewlbns69 8 лет назад

      Darkenedbyshadows
      pretty sure that's standard rules...it's the same in the US. some refs are just bigger jerks about it.

      Kewl Beans
      I agree, it sucks though when a ref mistakes a turn with the hips, or lower trunk as rim contact due to line of sight issues or whatever. Happens quite often to me. When I played in USA, the refs, I found to be a lot nicer and friendlier than in Euro.

    I would love to try this out.... are non disabled folks allowed to try it? And where could i go to try it?

    • @RichardCheshire
      @RichardCheshire 5 лет назад +1

      Non disabled people can play in local club leagues, in fact every club I've been in has had at least one non-disabled player.
      Are you UK based?

      Stoke Mandeville in Aylesbury, Buckinghamshire is where it all started. I’d suggest starting your search there. Good luck.
