The specialness of J.J. is, he could say more than other guitarists while playing half as many notes.

      Yep.
I’d put him in the same class as Greeny - and that’s damned exclusive company in my world

Never did the guitar sound bad in the fingers of Cale. This time, he managed a different sound from what he usually did.More effort is noticed.

He's so deep into the music he's playing. It seems he's not there... Even (or especially) in the guitar solos. So damned cool. But not cerebral. He really had something different from other guitar idols.

Well said. JJ was a mystery. Subtle changes, addition of sweet melodies during songs and he always sang with an attitude. Never got to see him. Saddens me.

Same league but totally different to Jeff Beck.

@@earthangel8730 Many times artist wants that fame or success but only on the basis of skills and talent without doing any pr marketing circus or being clown or puppet of music mafias. They can't achieve that due to all this nonsense which average skilled artist sometimes do and achieve better . This doesn't mean Rory Gallagher , j j Cale didn't want it . They just didn't want to compromise on certain things and values and achieve it . But we all know it's not an ideal world and ideal system . I just felt they deserved more that's why said so .
