I had my boat towed at an apartment complex. Towed 2 days after I got permission and paid for the parking spot. They said the boat stuck out a few inches past the white line. Never told me that and almost every truck is longer than those lines. They could have called me but decided to tow anyways. $2,500 cash. Con artist. I moved the next weekend. I called the city of Orlando, outside of city limits they can charge anything they want! Beyond crazy
“Shouldn’t have parked where they weren’t supposed to” Hey-I got towed for parking nose-in instead of tail-in on a block with one 18-inch sign on the end of the block far from where you walk into the building. If he thinks he’s the hero for sitting waiting for people to miss that sign and hitting them up for $400, he *is* a crook.
The one time I got towed the person demanded $300 cash and made me walk to an ATM and wouldn’t let me see my car before paying. I had paid for a meal at McDonald’s and was reffing a hockey game at the ice arena next door and the ice arena parking lot was being used as a park and ride spot for the state fair. There were no spots available, so I parked in the far back of the McDonald’s parking lot and was towed. I believe what happened to me was illegal as I was a patron of the establishment and was parked there for only 1.5 hours maximum. Anyhow, I’ll never trust any tow company ever again.
@@Locutus Before. Afterwards, I was looking for my car. It’s a big parking lot in a rural/suburban environment. Their lot wasn’t even close to full. It was a scam. Older people couldn’t walk one mile to the ATM and one mile back.
Great episode, but why didn't you comment about Repo towing? The economics of the towing of these cars, banks etc. It would have been worth another 15 minutes or at least a whole episode.
Yeah. When I get roadside assistance (via USAA) it's always 2-3 hours' wait. When I got in a wreck and the police called for the nearest truck, it was maybe 10 minutes. Definitely a difference. (Also, I think USAA only contracts with one tow company in the area, which also doesn't help the wait time. If they'd call multiple companies they'd probably get there faster.)
Towers getting hit on US roads seems like really poor road management. Here in NL an accident scene will have the lane marked as closed about 2km from the scene by the automatic overhead boards, and signs will light up indicating the nearest lane to the closed one to slow down to 70km.
This above the board portrayal of tow companies is a joke. I have had a tow truck hit and run my motorcycle and get caught on camera, I have had a tow yard damage a vehicle and try to deny but get caught on camera, and generally tow truck drivers are fat and shady. I understand the costs associated but that doesn’t give you full immunity to lie and rip people off.
Had security at a resort tell me to park in a certain area, next morning come to find out it was towed. Security guy was off duty that morning even do it would have been his word against mine. $168 never went to that resort again but did go to another very close by many times.
There's a reason organized crime loves the towing business. Not to disparage honest tow companies. Working on commission sounds almost illegal. Sounds suspiciously like the "independent contractor" labor scam. My hat is off to tow truck drivers. What a shit, thankless job. No one has made this guy contract with AAA, Allstate, etc.

Did you buy your McDonald's before or after the game?

From 5:05 until 6:00 is something I have suspected to be the case for a few years now.

The video thumbnail has a misspelled word (the one that shows before you play the video)
