I,like so many others my age, grew up watching great tv shows like this one. Truly simpler times with a much more easy going way of life. Sad to think that all of these people we admired in these shows, except Ron are no longer with us. Those few older actors that are still with us,grow fewer each year. Thanks Dave for reminding us of that generation, just how wonderful we really had it.❤
Change is hard, and extra hard when you’re leaving something you love and you aren’t in control of it. And as it goes, Every new beginning comes from some other beginning's end. Ron has quite a few beginnings after the end of The Andy Griffith Show. ❤
My Mom and I still love this show. We watch it every weeknight on MeTV. My fav scenes are when Andy pulls a prank on Barney. Barney says, "Ah, you're real funny Andy. Why don't you go......?" Whatever he tells Andy to do is always hilarious!🤣🤣🤣
Ron learned a lot about producing while on the TAS set. Andy Griffith once said that Ron was very interested in the behind the scenes aspects of the show. It was like going to film school.
He literally grew up on the show. He was just six when he first appeared and just shy of 14 when the last episode was filmed in early 1968. And of course don't forget the episode of ' Gomer Pyle USMC' in which Opie ran away from home. Generally a serious one but with funny moments.
I love Andy Griffith show I always the show on Facebook and I love the episodes in black and white why because every thing real and I love the warmth of the show in black and white, Rest In Peace to some have passed away 💙🌹🌹🌹🌹🌹🌹🌹🌹🌹🌹🌹🌹🌹🌹🌹🌹🌹🌹🌹🌹🌹🌹🌹🌹🌹🌹🌹🌹🌹🌹🌹🌹🌹
Dave, just wanted to let you know your passion and story telling mesh beautifully. You present just the right amount of pathos and humor, while letting the story unfold germanically. Thanks for putting your personal humility in your words and presentation. Well done.
Dave Solid sentimental presentation. Your love for this classic comes through, like your own personal Shangri-La every time the thought of the show even passes through your mind I'm sure... You're honest affection for it and the characters, cast/crew is wonderfully beautiful! Thanks for everything.
8 Seasons. From 1960-1968. Some child actors back then we're glad when a show comes to it's end. Ron Howard had developed some friendships with the actors he worked with that by the time Andy Griffith ended he was a teenager. It isn't easy going into another chapter in your life when a show comes to an end.
This was sad for me just watching this video. Loved this show dearly and characters doubly special. A good movie of Ron Howard not mentioned much is Bitter Harvest it really gets you. Still watch this show and still enjoy it. Thank you.
Watching this show was one of my earliest memories of TV. I used to sit right in front of the TV just so I could kiss Ronny Howard every morning. I was only 2, but I never called him Opie-only Ronny. I'm 64 and I STILL call him that!
I'm no artist, but there's one painting I'd love to see. It would depict Andy, Gomer, Helen, Barney, and Opie leaving Mayberry while Sam Jones, Aunt Bee, Goober, Mike Jones. Millie, Howard, and Emmett Clark bid them a fond farewell.
Hi, Dave. Lovely piece, as always. The picture of Ron Howard reminded me of his father, Rance Howard, who was himself, a bit actor. If you're interested, there is a lovely, mostly forgotten movie called Where The Lillies Bloom, with Rance Howard as the widowed father of a mountain family, struggling to stay together and survive. Also in this movie is a very young Jan Smithers, and Harry Dean Stanton. The lead actress, Julie Gholson, is an Alabama girl, like me. This was her only acting gig, but it's a good one. I had the privilege of getting to see this film at the magnificent Alabama Theatre in downtown Birmingham the year of it's release. Afterwards, Miss Gholson came out on stage and talked about her experiences making the movie. What a treat! Mr. Howard isn't in it for long as the father he portrays is sick with consumption and passes away, leaving his second oldest daughter to take his place, charging her with keeping the family together no matter the challenges. Where The Lillies Bloom is available on Utube for free. I think you would enjoy this sweet family film. I hope you look it up. Cheers😊
Lovely story, Dave. 😢 And thanks for that commercial. They sure don't show those any more. Especially not if the product no longer exists 😒 . 😆 🤣 ❤️ Happy Father's Day Dave! 💙
Those were certainly good memories watching the Andy Griffith show. What I watched during the late 60's and early 70's were the reruns. It certainly was a good show Ron Howard went on to become a successful individual. Anyone can become emotional when one has developed feelings for certain people. Being a kid Ron Howard was overtaken with those emotions.
While I was not a super fan of the show, I did like Ron Howard . The movie : “5 Minutes To Live, staring Johnny Cash, and Ronnie Howard 1961. A thriller. Even then, he was already becoming a “seasoned “ Actor. But one of my favorite movies is an absolute screwball “C” movie, called : “ Village Of The Giants “. Ronny Howard, Johnny Crawford, Tommy Kirk, Beau Bridges, 📻😁
Are Post Toasties still being made in any part of the country? I don't think I've ever seen them on the grocery store shelves where I live. The last Star Wars movie I watched, I watched it at the theater with my son. I don't remember the title; but Mark Hamill was hardly in it and he didn't even say a word. My son is the Star Wars fan and even he was disappointed. We have not seen a Star Wars movie since.
i have to admit, i never seen a commercial with a laugh track before. or, at least, i don't remember any. little known fact: in 1947 the original town of mayberry was destroyed by an erupting volacano that nearly wiped the entire population. only otis, the town drunk, and clara edwards, aunt bee's best friend, survived. they immediately began work repopulating the town. which is why all the townspeople in the tv show were so goofy. they were all related. with a score of 62, opie, it ended up, had the highest i. q. in town. which is why he ran away when he was 12 and joined the freak show of a traveling circus. which is where he met his future wife, the bearded lady. and they all lived happily ever after. that's my story and i'm sticking to it.
☺ But let's be honest he was a kid and sentimental. But the best was yet to come.....and ohhhh boy did it come. 🙂 Dave he was the most influential of the cast to make the greatest imprint. Andy, Don and Jim Nabors did fine but it was Ron Howard who made the greatest impact especially movies. 📜✍Not enough paperwork to list his credits.
The Andy Griffith Show Is my all time favorite TV show!!!! But I have a real BIG BEEF with the channel I watch it on! It’s been on this one channel for many many years!!! It’s on “ME TV” channel. But this channel will NOT SHOW certain shows of the AGShow!! Year after year goes by and they leave out at least 3 certain shows ALL the time!! Anyone else experiencing this on your channel where u watch the Andy Griffith Show ?? I would like to see those certain episodes!! I can’t think WHY they refuse to show certain ones!!!
Wow he was great on Lost In Space. Ohhhh...wait a minute that was another talented red headed boy actor Bill Mummy. One day you got to do some thing on him. 🤔🤔😜😜 Oh well, I really like Ron Howard, probably the cutest kid on TV at the time. And I agree the first three seasons of Happy Days was also great.until it turned in to Fonzies Happy Days, which is what they were going to change the name after Fonzie became so popular, and Ron Howard put a stop to that. By the way great video on Billy.....I mean Ron. No seriously you did good Dave, very moving story. Always love your uploads. 👍👍👍👍👍👍 Do a story on Walt Disneys; Mickey Mouse Club's Zorro next, Bill Mummy's favortie show in his youth. 😁😁😁😁😁😁 By the way just joined your channel, that was my last dollar, you owe me dinner. 😄😉
Aka Jerry Gillespie Hey Dave Happy Father's Day. Coincidentally Catchy Comedy has continues episodes of Mayberry RFD. I noticed Andy was in a few episodes of the first season of that show. Ron was only on the first. Also Dave the lady who played Millie Arlene Golanka Ken Berry's girlfriend on RFD played roles after the show ended unlike her Millie character she played prostitutes on All in the Family and Maude to name a few
Thanks!
Thank you so much for your support!
Ron was fortunate to have such a good experience with decent people
Very true!
@@jdsundstrom I always wandered how Ron felt about doing Happy days after doing so well on the Andy Griffith show.

Funny. I'm watching Mayberry RBG the spinoff this weekend on a new "catchy comedy" channel

What's "TAS"? Other than propaganda, that is.
I think Pamela meant "TAGS".
Amazing show. Amazing child actor! I remember when he was in “American Graffiti” and marveled at the time that he had grown up.
He literally grew up on the show. He was just six when he first appeared and just shy of 14 when the last episode was filmed in early 1968. And of course don't forget the episode of ' Gomer Pyle USMC' in which Opie ran away from home. Generally a serious one but with funny moments.

He lived the early 60s twice🤔
Once as a kid Opie Taylor
Other as Ritchie Cunningham
Raymond burr
Didn't have a hard time
From Perry Mason-Ironside
Thanks Dave ❤❤❤

I don't think I've ever seen "Bitter Harvest". I definitely need to check that one out.
Theres a couple of movies with this name it was made 1981. Fyi only
This is 100% the PERFECT show to watch on "Juneteenth", a throwback to a better time.
Thanks for the upload!

Cereal isn't good for you, but it paid for early television
However, people burned it off easier being outside
If I recall correctly there weren't any blacks in Mayberry.

Great tribute, Dave! And fitting to post on Dad's Day. I actually think Ron did a fantastic job (as always) of directing with Solo.

Ron Howard is an amazing man and talent. Loved him as Winthrop in The Music Man! Practically stole the show from Robert Preston and Shirley Jones.💖
One of the best??? THE BEST. PERIOD.
Ron Howard was not a little boy when
This show "wrapped" , he was 15 in 1968.
Good point.
I suspect it was very emotional for Ron. He grew up on that show.
I had to look up when Return to Mayberry was shown, 1986 and I don't remember watching it. I was into Miami Vice and The A Team kind of stuff.
