No way we should pay BRANTHWAITE 75m thats madness, he is not at that level and definitely not worth that price, guaranteed to get a non English CB just as good if not better for 40-45m.
I watched BRANTHWAITE play against united and he was absolutely lost, made 2 tackles the whole game and got a sofa score of 2.7, not for me.
I have to disagree on Manures available money, Man united made 648 million in turnover in the past year, they can definitely afford him and they are stupid enough to pay over the odds to get whoever they want, we have seen this time after time 80m for Anthony, 70m for a 30yo Casemiro etc. and daddy Jim will probably put his hand in his pocket to make it happen.

Honestly going against the consensus here but I would want to keep Sean over freeing up the comparatively small fee we'd get for him. Its a marathon not a sprint and having local lads in the dressing room is more important than having an extra 15mil in the bank. Sounds wild saying that but in todays market that is a pittance. On top of that, he seems like a sound lad who is literally living every young geordies dream, seeing him score in the UCL at St James made me more proud than I think I've ever been of someone I literally have never met.

Could the Saudi pro league be convinced Paul Dummett is worth 40m ? I think a striker needs to be our top priority Sesko is a very good option with Miley stepping up this season I am less concerned about adding numbers in midfield upgrading would be nice thought but I think we may struggle as we still have to pay for hall this summer I really think a young rb is needed Krafth is a big step down from trippier and Liveramento and Trippier won't be around much longer I think selling almiron and replacing him with Minteh may offset some of our worries financially though a CB is also a must we have 4 cbs but burn is used as a lb so really we don't have much redundancy.

    • @simonfarrimond3664

no because you have to take into consideration how much you paid for that player in the first place ie you buy for 30m over 5 year deal each season his value drops by 6m so if you sell him 3 years later there is still 12m left over sell for 30m you only gain 18m to buy a new player etc

On one hand... you want players who play for the shirt...and who better than a Newcastle fan -
That being said,if last season is a peak for Sean, then we know what will happen long term anyway -
The only other thing I would add in regards to Sean...is what with our numbers being so reduced this season, including his own ongoing 'injury' he hasn't had to fight for his place either...he knows he's gonna play week in week out.. and that undoubtedly lowers your motivation a little as well.
Do I think we will sell him? No.
Eddie loves Longstaff...weve all raised our eyebrows hearing Eddie quote things like "sean has an incredible footballing intelligence"
And no matter how bad a game he has... even with options available,he won't take him off.
I wouldn't be surprised if he's offered a new deal, and I dont think im alone in this assumption, but "you never know in football"

There is no homegrown loophole. Any player you buy is spread over 4-5 seasons due to amortisation, however, any player you sell hits the current seasons accounts. The benefit of selling home grown players is the pure profit you make.
I believe when you sell a player you need to deduct any outstanding amortisation amount for that player from the sale price and whatever is left hits your current seasons accounts.
So as an example if we decided to sell Tonali this summer and got £60m and we still had £50m on our amortisation we’d only see a benefit of £10m on this years accounts.
Selling a homegrown player means you have zero amortisation on your books so the entire sale amount hits your accounts.
It doesn’t have to be a homegrown player though, if we sold Mintey for £50m we’d have nearly £45m hit our books as he only cost £7m.
Also someone like Almiron has been at the club so long that he’s dropped off our amortisation figures so anything we sell him for hits our accounts straight away.
If we sell Bruno for £100m (and I don’t want it to happen) then we’d wipe the remaining £25m from our amortisation figures and have £75m hit our accounts this season.
I don’t particularly like it as it allows clubs like Chelsea to abuse FFP but selling players always have had an immediate impact, it’s the only reason Chelsea haven’t broken FFP for the last 2 seasons.

    • @user-bq2tc6dh6t
      @user-bq2tc6dh6t 29 дней назад

Hello thanks for explaining you seem to know what you talking about. So if we sold Longstaff and Almiron got £40m would that mean we could spend £200m?

    • @andrewcharlton6080
      @andrewcharlton6080 29 дней назад

@@user-bq2tc6dh6t. You could do that because this seasons share of the amortisation for £200m would be balanced out by the £40m we’d receive from Almiron and Longstaff.
It’s just very risky as next year you’d need to find another £40m extra, same the year after and so on.
Our owners could have stretched our budget every window like this but they’ve said they don’t want to take a risky approach so I don’t they’ll start now.
What you’ve described is basically what Chelsea have done, they sold £200m in players and spent huge amounts on their new players, their sales covered last season but the hope was they’d do far better in the league and get CL football but because they haven’t they need to sell more players to cover their high amortisation fees.
It could come back to seriously bite Chelsea so although id like us to spend more I think the owners approach is the sensible way

Also sell Miggy and Wilson, maybe even Targett or Trippier if we can and replace with Hall/Livramento/Minteh/Harrison type players who will be high risk/high reward, 2-3 free transfers and one star to replace Wilson. Much as I like Branthwaite £45m tops is more realistic. Get Tosin in and Lloyd Kelly until Botman and Lascelles are back. That would give us Tosin, Kelly, Schar, Burn with Botman and Lascelles when they come back. Need at least 1 or 2 keeper/sweepers and that is a fair defence.
Sell Longstaff as I think he is now not needed. A midfield of J7, Bruno and Tonali backed up by Willock, Anderson and Miley is, in my opinion one hell of a midfield.
A decent striker as backup for Isak or 2 if Callum goes.
By the way Paul have you noticed Tonali has got a £20k fine and 2 months suspension with the suspension to run concurrent with the Italian ban. They said this was he had given himself up and cooperated with the tribunal fully in an unprecedented way.

With Home grown players its the UEFA club rule for European competition that hits us. We have to have 4 players who spent 3 entire seasons or 36 months between the ages of 15 and 21 at Newcastle in the A squad and 4 players who spent 3 entire seasons or 36 months between the ages of 15 and 21 at any English club. This seasons CL squad we only had 23 man squad as we only had 2 players that met this club rule Longstaff and Dummett. If we were in Europe next season then potentially we would have 4 players L Miley Anderson White and Longstaff that would meet this rule. Selling home grown talent is something that is not new and another boost to PSR is where you have paid off a player and his amoritisation no longer appears on the PSR accounts you also get pure profit. Effectively if you sell a player if you have any amortisation payments left to pay or you have payed any in the PSR period this has to be deducted from any amount you sell him for as essensially this appears in the accounts that are used for PSR calculations. With Home grown player or a player whos transfer fee has been paid off outside the PSR window then there are no fees left over from buying him so when you sell him you get all the money hence term pure profit. I would consider selling Longstaff if we needed the cash to improve the squad and we would only lose 1 UEFA squad place. Braithwaite for £70M is too much. Would rather go for Huijsen at Juventus would probaly cost £25-£35M although PL unproven has played in Serie A which is more defensively orientated and is probably a better prospect then Braithwaite (Jose highly rates him and hes no mug) for 1/2 the price. The money left over could then be used in other areas

Anderson, Miley and Willock as backup to starting 3 midfielders so I'd take the money for Longstaff and bring another youngster through aswell

I would keep Longstaff, if he would only command a fee of £15m, then he couldn't be replaced for that amount, so for me he would be a half decent squad player.

I like Branthwaite but I think he's a bit overpriced at around 75m and there's better options out there in Europe. I'm a big onana fan though and would take a deal all day which saw us replace Longstaff with him for 50m or so.

I think he does better when we have our best on the park big Joe, BG etc ... I think he would be a great squad player ... id rather we try and sell Miggy and get rid of some of the others first ... but that being said SL unfortunately if he was sold he is not the player you will go damn what a loss ... marque needs to be the money but also the player who incites wow ambition a top striker, top attacking winger ...

I do like the idea of Sesko, I don't think he'd be 2nd choice either. I'd love to see Isak play that no.10 role more often, you can see in certain games he drops deeper to make things happen. There is this argument that Howe doesn't play a 10 but you can see Isak do this when needed from time to time.

I would love to see Braithwaite at Newcastle. I know the fee is ridiculous, but when Man U & Real are interested clubs know they’re silly with their money. However, both Burn and Schar are the wrong side of 30 & Brathwaite has Premier League experience. We might have to bite the bullet on this one and pay up, as City did with Stones.

The idea is you sell a hg player that boosts your turnover for that season. You then buy a player whose transefer is amortised over the length of their contract.
Problem is next season and the season after etc...
It's a short term fix that can get you into real long term problems.
Unless you have a conveyor of good hg players coming through it's a bad idea.

If we lose Sean, we need another right sided midfielder. With Sandro out untill october, we need someone on the right to hold it down as Joelinton/Anderson/Willock are all better on the left. Either we see a big step up from Lewis Miley, or well need someone in Seans place until Sandro returns

The selling home grown players has been used for years by the likes of City , Chelsea and the rest of the EPL , hence why Chelsea HAVE to sell Gallagher in the summer to stay within FFP just like they sold Mount last season
