    He's absolute quality for 10-15 games a season. If he stays he has to be 1 of 3, rather than a 1 of 2 strike force. On balance if a £20m offer comes in we have to take that

    Wilson is such a tough one. His GPM means he will be hard to replace in terms of goals, but his injury problems suggest he does need replacing. I think, given his age, and assuming they can scout a decent replacement, I would say it's probably time for him to move on. He has been a credit to the #9 shirt though

  • @deanharding740
    @deanharding740 Месяц назад

    I just checked Callum has played an average of 21 games per season for the last 4 seasons and an average of 6 of those 21 games has been as a sub if I’ve ready the stats correctly. So full games around a third of a season and appearances incl substitutions around half a season. He def isn’t fit enough to be a main striker for a top team but if he could be used when he’s fit there’s no getting away from it that when he is fit he’s an international quality centre forward who would be a real asset to a squad to cover injuries or to bring in and change games.
    You probably couldn’t buy that quality and it may be he wants to let his contract run down to get one last big pay day which you wouldn’t blame him for. If Newcastle did sell him they might raise £10 to £15m for him which would allow them to bring in a £50m player potentially. I think if you could get the quality incoming player and use the transfer fee for Callum to finance it you probably would.

  • @InBodWeTrust
    @InBodWeTrust Месяц назад

    Is Hermoso left or right footed? We already have 2 left-footed CBs on the books (Burn and Botman, 3 if you include Dummett), and the other guys being looked at (Kelly / Tosin) are also left-footed. We are seriously short of quality right-footed CBs ... we only really have Schar (perhaps Krafth is reasonable as squad cover). Lascelles' time has pretty much come and gone, so we need to reinforce the right side of defence.

    If we get a big money offer from Saudi, we should take it. He's been amazing for us when fit. I certainly wouldn't sell him to another PL club though, he doesn't deserve to be 3rd choice but I'd love him to stay, he still bags goals, and that costs millions ro replace. If we're planning on bringing in another striker... Athletico wanted Wilson, so maybe a swap + cash deal could be done for Hermoso? I want Zinchenko nowhere NEAR us!

    Read this morning Wilson wants a 3 year deal as this will be last contract and I doubt we will offer him that. 2 Saudi clubs interested in 20mil deal so for me he should go to get his last payday. I’d take Kelly as premier league proven and play 2 positions. Arsenal are a joke club valuing their reserves with sky high prices. Also saw this morning we are pressing for Kevin Zenon from Boca Juniors for 13 mil deal.

    Although Wilson is so injury prone, he virtually guarantees you 15 goals. A lot of clubs will pay good money for that output. Even clubs like Arsenal, Chelsea, Spurs and Man U could be tempted to buy an England international Premier League striker with such an impressive strike rate.

    He is a quality player who is worth another season,,but he is not a player able to be a reliable starter with injuries (stating the obvious I know) I would keep him, but only as 3rd striker who can start some games, if not (Wilson goes scenario) I think we will need 2 incomings for the ST position, but its going to be difficult enough getting one quality forward the way the market is regarding strikers (Price denting our FFP allowance) so yeh keep, but then we need to consider if Wilson would be happy with that role. Stay or GO ? It isn't a straightforward answer to the situation.

    The wilson question hinges on the answer to another, can he be replaced in the summer? Sure, we could put anthony in for him, but Anthony's having a whale of a time down that side. Why stop that? I don't think Minteh is quite ready yet, so we gotta look for a replacement. If we can get one, it's all good, highest offer for wilson will do. Failing that, we are low on choices

  • @Oliias

    I'd love Calum to stay, regardless of whether he does or not, we need another quality striker & how good would it be for the squad if we had Calum as a back-up "as and when" striker. Yes, as you say, a third choice striker but due to his age and injury record I don't think there'd be a lot of interest from premier league teams so he might just think that staying & being a fantastic emergency option is as good as he can get just now. As to what he said, I reckon he simply hasn't a clue what his future is going to look like just yet.

    Would buy in young CF Sesko would be the one. If Callam does not want to stop then would look at Jovic on a free. Has been rotation player mainly off the bench and has scored 7 and one assist in 927 Mins this season for AC Milan. Mario Hermoso would be a yes for me as he can also play LB is a ball playing CB who can switch play with long passes similar to Schar with a much better injury record than Kelly. The downside is his wages. Hes on around £140000pw at Athletico so on a free would want some kind of incentive to sign. Hes is probably worth it as would give us a left sided CB being left footed and probably has another good 4 seasons in him. Arsenal fans are so entitled. We could get a better LB than Zinchenko if we looked around. If Haaland is worth £216M then Isak is worth as much as he is a more complete all round player than Haaland and able to create in situations Haaland cannot. Whilst Bruno is probably worth £90M+ so Arsenal would need £330M plus if you are being realistic by the time you include agent fees which they cannot afford.

  • @AlloyOzz08

    I like Wilson. Will always have a soft spot for him. He's a brilliant striker and always finds a way to score. But, he's always injured. I thought maybe that would change once the new ownership took over and got him off the Gregg's diet, but he still get's injured for extended periods of time. Couple that with the fact he turned 32 this year and you have a mess. An old, injury prone striker who has maybe 4 years left in him. I respect that he loves the game and wants to do more, but he physically can't. If someone were stupid enough to give us £30 - £40 million for him, i'd sell him in a heartbeat. But I don't think that will happen. Ultimately, It's probably in his (and our) best interest to stay with us as second choice.

    Keep Wilson. Buy a young prospect CF who can play across the frontline

    Calum Wilson will not be at Newcastle next season unfortunately. I think he’s to good a player to be sitting on the bench. but I think Newcastle will be cashing in on him.

    so whats the logic there with callum wilson? we need more than 2 strikers. So if he leaves and we replace we still only have 2 strikers.

    I think Wilson wants away, I think he wants to prolong his career and maybe playing in Spain in a warmer climate and a less physical league with less games will suit him better. 🤷‍♂️

    On Calum: It’s pandering. (Remember everything in football is negotiating). This will most likely be his last big payday. You dont want to show your cards this early.

    why buy a player from arsenal and give them more to spend makes no sense to me tbh

    If we get conference or Europa wilson could play alot even if we get another striker in. We have carabao and fa cup aswell so he will get game time . With proper rotation he can still do a job for us. Zinchenko no thanks. Hermoso defo over Kelly.

    I’d love it if we put down £100 million in front of Crystal Palace & said, “This is for Olise & Wharton, take it or leave it.”

    He should only stay if a third striker is sourced by the club.
    My fear is if Howe's whims are indulged then we will be in the same boat next season with Isak and Wilson as our only two strikers, I don't think we will bring in another one if Wilson stays.
    As usual Howe buries his head in the sand lamenting what it will cost to replace Wilson when it clearly needs doing this summer.
    Sell him now because it will be the last chance to make any money from him and it helps with our FFP predicament.
    There is no point keeping an injury prone player for another season because we all know what will happen with him again!
    Howe has proved he never learns from mistakes and his latest statement on Wilson is doomed to go down the same road again.
    We need to start planning for life without Wilson but Howe never wants to make the tough decisions opting for putting a sticking plaster over a gaping wound.
