    In this video you'll find gameplay of the first stage of almost every official Galaxian version (with the exception of the MZ-80B, FM-7 and the JAKKS Pacific, which unfortunately I couldn't find).
    Unofficial clones, hacks and homebrew versions has been deliberatery excluded. Maybe in a future I'll make a video dedicated to them.
    This has been another very tough video so I hope you give it some love.

    I usually find the more primitive looking versions the more interesting ones. It's more fun to look at the ones who at least try than the ones who can do it effortlessly.

    I had the Entex handheld game, and it was an absolute nightmare to see the bullets among the scrolling stars. In the end, my dad got some coloured acetate and stuck it over the screen to make the green stars look much darker, which finally made the game playable.

      Not the "definitive", because any further upgrade (i.e. on a 16-bit console, for example) would be better, but it's definitely the OG one... You can't beat Arcade, EVER! U.U

      With some arcade games, their home console ports outdo their original versions for different reasons. I can think of a few games that arguably do so:
      *Centipede (7800, 1986):* 2-player co-op.
      *Columns (Genesis/Mega Drive, 1990):* nearly identical sound and graphics to the arcade version but with more gameplay options.
      *Mario Bros Classic (NES [PAL], 1993):* more jump control and selectable difficulty but with all the cutscenes and features of the original.
      *Ms Pac-Man (SNES, 1996):* more maze variations, selectable difficulty options, an optional dash feature, and 2-player co-op.

    • @jasonm07

    • @reillywalker195
      @reillywalker195 7 месяцев назад +1

      @@jasonm07You moved the goalposts of your argument. Of course home ports of arcade games aren't going to be the same unless they're emulations of said arcade games-that's a given. My point is that there are home ports that go beyond their arcade counterparts while still fundamentally being the same games. If we look at _Mario Bros_ as an example, _Mario Bros Classic_ for the European NES is fundamentally the same game as its arcade counterpart with the same fundamental mechanics but with slight changes that arguably elevate it to being a better version of the game; contrast that with _Mario Bros Special_ and _Punch Ball Mario Bros_ by Hudson Soft which have entirely different mechanics and definitely are different games despite being clearly inspired by _Mario Bros_ the arcade game.
