      Many professional bike mechanics do it that way too.

      It's quite common I've always aligned my derailleurs on new build with the chain off.

    Thanks for the great video. After watching your video I started from the beginning (removed the chain and cable) and walked through your steps. My RD is now chatter free and super smooth. Thanks again!

    Hey thanks for the great video! desperate question: the b screw on my chorus, which should set the distance pulleys-cassette, all of a sudden disconnected from the body of the derailleur. In your video it moves as one piece, while in my case it turns freely with its black support ring, and the derailleur doesnt hold its position anymore (happened while riding, was about to destroy both derailleur and frame). Any idea about how to fix? Thanks a lot, ciao

    Great video with excellent detail. I'm seeing some sluggish down shifting on my record 12, brand new cables and housing, my b-screw is way extended to allow the chain to go up to the 32, any ideas what might be causing the sluggish downshifts?

    Thanks for a great video with clear explanations. It's so much better than Campagnolo's! That said, I've had my Chorus 12 with the 11-32 cassette for about a year and have had chronic shifting problems. I've never crashed the bike, I've checked the derailleur hanger alignment with the Park tool, I regularly check the chain for wear, but I consistently have a shifting problem going from the 25 to the 22. It won't respond to the shifter until I go one shift further and it jumps to the 19 cog. I then can back shift to the 22, but I can't seem to get rid of the problem. I followed your instructions in this video to the letter, reinstalled the chain, and the problem is still there. I've had Campagnolo from 8 speed to 9 to 10 and now 12 and I've never had this issue till I went to 12 speed. Any ideas?

      This is really late, but maybe it'll help someone with an issue like this. I just recently installed Chorus 12 with an 11-34, and was having an issue where the chain would not go up from 22 to 25 (9th sprocket to 10th) unless I performed a really aggressive, snappy shift from the shifter lever. That's where the 17-22 monoblock jumps to the 25-34 (or 25-32) monoblock. I took my cassette apart, measured the spacers, didn't find any major difference (2.05 vs 2.02 mm) but still swapped them around. When I reassembled the cassette, I took extra care to make sure everything was cleaned and seated tight to the hub. Torqued the locking ring down and it seems to be shifting well on the stand. I think the cassette, with it's two separate triple-sprocket monoblocks, might need a more careful and clean installation.

    Thank you for the video. I have some problems with the chain lately. Its shifting perfect with no faults, but there is some noise coming off the chain. What is your lifespan with a Record 12 speed chain?

    • @FreeToCycle

      The life span of the chain will depend on the conditions! You can easily check the chain for wear and replace it if necessary.

    thanks for the video ! i'm actually building up this group on my bike. I have a question about the chain length : Campagnolo says the chain must be 110 links no matter the cassette or the chanring size. I have a 50-34 and 11-29 with 415mm chainstay, is 110 links right ? thanks.

    • @FreeToCycle
      @FreeToCycle  2 года назад +2

      Yes 110 links!

      @@FreeToCycle Thanks ! i was asking because the chain is super loose when i'm on the small chainring. Do I just need to adjust the screw in contact with the derailleur hanger ?

    could you speak to standard mount or direct frame mount

  • @alecsadewhite6994
    @alecsadewhite6994 Год назад +1

    TIL -- If you do more creative routing of the cable through the pinchbolt, you will not get accurate shifting. Checked the hanger alignment, b screws, limit screws multiple times and was convinced I had a defective shifter with bad indexing. It's not very obvious what correct routing through the bolt is from this video because of the angle, but if you consult the campy technical manual online, there is a clear picture.

    Would you ride super record electronic over DA shimano. Fancy a change. Didn’t like new dA

    • @unairamos74
      @unairamos74 3 года назад +2

      SR is in another league. The equivalent to DA in Campagnolo would be Record anyway. SR is far better in performance and longevity.

    Fist step is get your derailleur out out of the box.
    Second step is, chuck it in the bin then go and get yourself a decent groupset!
    I am also selling a chorus groupset!
    Do yourself a favour and get a groupset that doesn't shit itself from a bit of sidewind and dust!
