This movie was pretty epic. It's such a straightforward story, easy to relate to and yet original in the way it's presented. No overdone, over the top CGI and no crazy twist. It's pretty good and made me feel what they felt. Great actors, great cinematography!
I thought I was the only one that felt similarly. It's like the Viking version, although I feel like this movie is closer in historical accuracy than Apocalypto
I’m so glad this movie was very well made and super entertaining. I was worried when I saw the original teaser trailer. I plan on seeing it this weekend.
Another Hamlet story that actually warps the concept and makes the audience question which side is actually in the right. I used the term "right" very Loosely considering both factions are beyond morally reprehensible
Eggers is amazing in worldbuilding and setting the scene. In all of his movies its feels like your there and can actually sense the dread/uneasiness or brutality.
4:34 that is not the apirit of his father, that is Odin All Father anyone who knows even a little about norse mythology knows that Odin is always described as a hooded grey beard when he visits the realms and has two ravens perched on his shoulders, Hugin(thought) and Munin(Memory) This movie has a near exact recreation of Sir E. Burne Jones drawings depicting the Norse god
I really loved seeing this movie, watching it felt like you were being told an old Norse saga. The attention to historical detail made it so much more interesting
Thank you Niyat! This movie was simple but great! I unintentionally had the theatre laughing when we saw the mom get her just deserts along with the step bro😆
I absolutely love this film that I had to watch it twice in theaters.🙌🏼👏🏼👏🏼 The soundtracks are quite invigorating and fits will into the scenario. The action sequences are epic. Alexander Skarsgärd and Anya Taylor-Joy’s performances and chemistry is outstandingly memorable. For Valhǫll!🖤🦅🐺💀 Well done with this video, Niyat.
I love your reviews I forget to hit like sometimes sorry, you have a great voice and your show is the reason I enjoy more movies and shows and you don't disappoint keep up the great work .
I love all Roberts movies and this was another great one. Sadly it didn't do great as far as money. Normies wanna see Tom cruise or spiderman, this had neither.
My first Movie from Eggers, and man I´ve gone into that movie without any expectations. Dude what a wonderful sunday evening I can tell you. Never expected It to be that good!
Im so surprised, because I was literally upset after seeing this in theaters lol. This movie disappointed me more than any other in years, and im usually pretty open/receptive to all movies, especially a “Viking” movie.
We watched this the night it premiered:) me and my special needs brother he loved it. The fighting Scenes the gore the acting was spot on!! We left the movies wowed! Like we just saw a academy award movie like gladiator. It was beautifully written and directed!
Just watched it and absolutely loved it, a great representation of how serious family name reputation and revenge was taken back then, a lot to learn from this great film about our ancestors and how pure to their cause some of them were or how evil one can be when given the chance of easy success/fame
@FilmsComicsExplained-Is there anyway you could do a film explanation for The 9th Gate, starring Johnny Depp? Or have you already covered it? Thanks in advance! 🙂
I haven't watched this film, as it's another one I'll have to add to my list which was uncovered by this channel. However, the synopsis did remind me a lot of "Vinland saga", the manga set in a similar time and setting.
It is so insane how big and fucking jacked Alexander Skarsgard can get when he used to look like melted ice cream in his apartment. Now that I'm thinking about it he was always naturally big. I just forgot how big he was in Tarzan.
Such a shame that this film tanked at the box office and received no Oscar nominations because the Northman is one of the best films of 2022. I could totally see it gaining a cult following and I can't wait to see what Robert Eggers does next
I fucking loved this movie 🎬 never disappointed with Rob Egger's. Looking forward to the next project. Hope there's an alternate ending for this, or I can imagine it
Love the concept and beautiful representation. Maybe instead of every time someone makes a story with their interpretation of a classic (both Shakespeare of this tradition) people scream "cultural appropriation"; we can respect both the source and the remiamaging. Just an old man's thoughts.
A vengeful Viking warrior prince goes undercover as a slave so he can get avenge on his evil uncle who murdered his father and stole the throne for himself.
I wanted to watch this movie just now , and my fucking tv broke !!!!! It won’t turn on !!! Now I have to watch it on my phone !!!!!! Little screen doesn’t do it justice !!
This film is a twofold picture the world of medieval man, saturated with pagan rituals, scandinavian myths that are intertwined with dirt, hatred, inhuman ruthlessness and brutality.
2.5 hours of my life that I can’t get back. I wish someone before hand would have told me that the ending was the same result as the latest Bond flick so I could have avoided this snooze fest…

Very relatable 👌🏽
i felt like the mother twist was quite a twist
It’s way too relatable felt like they made my life into a movie
This film was incredible to watch on the big screen! It reminded me of Apocalypto by Mel Gibson.
I thought I was the only one that felt similarly. It's like the Viking version, although I feel like this movie is closer in historical accuracy than Apocalypto
Ngl i was just gonna commemt on that ,thats exactly wat it reminds me of big time😌
Agreed
I’m so glad this movie was very well made and super entertaining. I was worried when I saw the original teaser trailer. I plan on seeing it this weekend.
Not even on the same level.
Another Hamlet story that actually warps the concept and makes the audience question which side is actually in the right.
I used the term "right" very Loosely considering both factions are beyond morally reprehensible
How was Amleth “beyond morally reprehensible”..?
On the basis that Amlet's mother may or may not be "right" about his father being a slave trader I'd assume
They tre not morally fucked, they're both just true to life.
Perhaps Shakespeare's Hamlet warped the original concept by making Hamlet more sympathetic and the uncle a more clear-cut villain? ;-)
@@kscorp5176 I mean the mother wanting her own child dead that's objectively villainous.
Eggers is amazing in worldbuilding and setting the scene. In all of his movies its feels like your there and can actually sense the dread/uneasiness or brutality.
This is true
This team can just keep making weird, creepy, maybe horror? historical flicks for the rest of time as much as I care. They're REALLY good at it.
4:34 that is not the apirit of his father, that is Odin All Father anyone who knows even a little about norse mythology knows that Odin is always described as a hooded grey beard when he visits the realms and has two ravens perched on his shoulders, Hugin(thought) and Munin(Memory)

Scrolled down in the comments to see if anybody else noticed this, thought I was losing my mind there for a minute
And he has an eyepatch
@@SirToaster9330 yeah I should have mentioned that, either way it is clearly Odin.
He showed the picture of Odin when he said it hit im pretty sure the raven who broke the rope holding him was supposed to be his father
@@CooKidProductionsno, Odin because those are Odin' s Ravens which I named in my original comment
I see this director going a lot of places, hopefully he maintains creative control and doesn't get screwed over
The soundtrack of this movie is insane
I really loved seeing this movie, watching it felt like you were being told an old Norse saga.
The attention to historical detail made it so much more interesting
Did you notice that before or after you watched this video ? I’m assuming after because I doubt you really knew how accurate the movie was/wasn’t.
@@justincraig398 ahh no before watching this video, I’ve always has a big interest in older cultures like Vikings since my teens
Thank you Niyat! This movie was simple but great!
I unintentionally had the theatre laughing when we saw the mom get her just deserts along with the step bro😆
One thing that stood out was how tall Alexander Skarsgård is. He looked enormous on screen!
Valhöll*
The Northman is an amazing film. The score is stunning the visuals are excellent 4/5
Great video! It's amazing how Eggers style has improved so far and I look forward to more of his films.
This film was fantastic. Brutal and beautiful, the locations are spectacular. 10/10
This is quite the Viking epic you don't see anymore.
It reminds me of CONAN The Barbarian meets BRAVEHEART.
They missed an opportunity to name it "Techno Viking 2022"
This kind of a movie is best watched in a theater with great surround sounds...and popcorn with iced tea.
Honestly not my type of a movie but there never was a moment when I was bored, so I'd say it's quite good.
I adore this movie. It will be on my "watch many times" list. Right up there with Logan and eternal sunshine of the spotless mind
This was a great movie. I'm glad to have Scandinavian heritage
Just finished this movie and man it was great, love these films with fantasy and realistic history. Very well done.
That was such a dope movie that pulled zero punches and kept me in the edge of my seat for the entire movie!
I've been waiting for this.
When ever they have awesome cast its a watch list for sure.
I kept expecting William Defoe to ask him why he spilt his beans.
I love how he was Willem Dafriend and not Dafoe here lol
Still looked like a demon or something in the movie though 🤣
A great movie that unfortunately unperformed in the box office
I loved this movie. Really feel the emotions in it.
Also known as Viking Hamlet
Very true
This movie is pretty brutal and epic thanks for this analysis on it.
0:01 is morbius fans when morbius goes into morbin mode😈
My first Movie from Eggers, and man I´ve gone into that movie without any expectations. Dude what a wonderful sunday evening I can tell you. Never expected It to be that good!
This movie was a total banger🔥
Im so surprised, because I was literally upset after seeing this in theaters lol. This movie disappointed me more than any other in years, and im usually pretty open/receptive to all movies, especially a “Viking” movie.
Can I ask why?
Why is that?
Fantastic video, and i hope it gets more people watch and support movies like this. Just a masterpiece honestly
So Viking Apocalypto for sure.. sorta. An definitely something to see. Figured it was
I would love to see an explanation of Alex Garland’s latest movie “Men”
We watched this the night it premiered:) me and my special needs brother he loved it. The fighting Scenes the gore the acting was spot on!! We left the movies wowed! Like we just saw a academy award movie like gladiator. It was beautifully written and directed!
Thank you for the break down.
Such an awesome movie. I haven't seen a beautiful movie like this since 2015's Hamlet with Michael Fassbender.
Thanks for the video!! See you later!! Stay safe.😊
Thanks! You too!
Just watched it and absolutely loved it, a great representation of how serious family name reputation and revenge was taken back then, a lot to learn from this great film about our ancestors and how pure to their cause some of them were or how evil one can be when given the chance of easy success/fame
Robert eggers is a genius.
Good video cant wait to see what u review next
@FilmsComicsExplained-Is there anyway you could do a film explanation for The 9th Gate, starring Johnny Depp? Or have you already covered it? Thanks in advance! 🙂
Well said!
We don’t use preworkout anymore we howl like wolves
Who needs G-fuel when you can AWWWWOOOOOWWW!
I absolutely loved this movie
When he was captured, it wasn't the spirit of his father, but instead the high one himself (Odinn) rescues amleth.
Great breakdown of a fantastic film, there's an incredibly beautiful, brutal grimyness to it
I haven't watched this film, as it's another one I'll have to add to my list which was uncovered by this channel. However, the synopsis did remind me a lot of "Vinland saga", the manga set in a similar time and setting.
Finally saw The Northman. Absolutely loved it. Wish i had saw it in theatres
This movie was great!
And Anya Taylor-Joy was the best choice for his woman ha
Hi! Love your videos! Could by chance make a video based on Treasure Planet in the future? :D
Ready for a rewatch now 😉
Was expecting him to dance to techno down a street
Two Wrongs Don't Make A Right: The Movie. That is what the alternate title for The Northman should be
Hoping to watch it soon. I couldn’t not make the connection between this movie and the Vinland saga
Yeah this is 100 years before Thorfinn but when I read the DVD box I thought it would be more alike
Clicked on this SO FAST!!
This movie is top fucking tier
My favorite movie, by far. First movie I've actually bothered to go watch in 5 years.
It is so insane how big and fucking jacked Alexander Skarsgard can get when he used to look like melted ice cream in his apartment.
Now that I'm thinking about it he was always naturally big. I just forgot how big he was in Tarzan.
Had to cross states to see this. Well worth it and I hopping more movies like this well come out.
Great film cheers mate
You know what I love? The fact that this movie is one degree of separation from the Lion King.
Please do The Ancient Enemy from The Phantoms
This movie is top notch IMO up there with braveheart & gladiator
Loved it!
Such a shame that this film tanked at the box office and received no Oscar nominations because the Northman is one of the best films of 2022. I could totally see it gaining a cult following and I can't wait to see what Robert Eggers does next
great film
Can't wait to watch this
Amleth’s mother lied to protect her new family.
The sword could only be drawn at night
Gunnr means battle.
That's where the word "Gun" comes from I'm assuming. Pretty sick.
I fucking loved this movie 🎬 never disappointed with Rob Egger's. Looking forward to the next project. Hope there's an alternate ending for this, or I can imagine it
Please do a video on The Cosmic Ghost Rider! 🥺
Love the concept and beautiful representation. Maybe instead of every time someone makes a story with their interpretation of a classic (both Shakespeare of this tradition) people scream "cultural appropriation"; we can respect both the source and the remiamaging. Just an old man's thoughts.
Fantastic movie !
The Northman is the best movie of 2022 Robert eggers make great detail with historical accuracy of his movies
04:32 I think that's Odin not his fathers spirit.
@filmcomicsexplained he was not a Berserker who are lone bear warriors but a Ulfhednar a pack wolf warrior.
Starring Eric Northman as himself.
The Blonde Slav Girl looks like Harley Quinn... 😏
I loved this movie.
In the grim dark past there was only war.
Ah yes, Viking Conan.
Conan is far more entertaining than this drivel.
Hey Niyat please review Eyes Wide Shut
Please cover a Writer's odyssey
When I saw this in theaters, everyone around me said it sucked when it was over
This film is a twofold picture the world of medieval man, saturated with pagan rituals, scandinavian myths that are intertwined with dirt, hatred, inhuman ruthlessness and brutality.
I was so confused watching this nothing made sense to me. I didnt know who to route for who was the villain nor victim?!
Awesome
Amazing
Movie
It's called THE SADNESS
2.5 hours of my life that I can’t get back. I wish someone before hand would have told me that the ending was the same result as the latest Bond flick so I could have avoided this snooze fest…
So running water wasn't available in 10th century Iceland but braces for ones teeth were? 🤔
You have got to get the science of the BLACK WIDOW MOVIE!
