What an exceptional jam!! I was very surprised that Mr. Les Paul invited Steve Miller to a jam session of this stature. I was hoping they'd play at least one of Steve's "little great songs", but no... they let me down on that. Despite that, I was surprised to discover this side of Steve I was not fully aware of. 👋👋👋
Since nobody else has mentioned it. Les and his wife Mary Ford were close friends with Steve's parents, who were best man and matron of honor at Les & Mary's wedding. Les is Steve's Godfather.
Love this. Love Les and Steve forever. So, Les Paul is Steve Miller's Godfather? I see that as both a blessing and a curse for Steve. Thanks, you just blew my mind.
Well I've been 2atching and Les is a little catty with everyone. But i got a little offended at the way Steve was treating him. I thought it must of been some sort of joke. I love Les Paul and Steve Miller band equally. I just always go for the underdog.
Near the end of college, my parents said, 'Steve, what are you going to do?' I said, 'I want to go to Chicago and play the blues.' My father looked at me like I was insane. But my mom said, 'You should do it now.' So I went to Chicago. And that was a special time. I played with Muddy Waters and Howlin' Wolf. I got to work with adults and realized music was what I wanted to do, what I loved.
Les is such a great artist, it's obvious that his arthritis has crippled his ability to play even the most basic chords. This man in his prime was untouchable. What dedication and love he has, this is what makes him so great. RIP Les...
Steve Miller is the real deal, right at the birth of rock n roll. T bone Walker showed him how to play along with Les at his house growing up. Most white artists learnt from records, Steve learnt from them in person.
I like the way Steve Cropper threats this gig, so pro, so 'into it' , not stealing the show and just let's things flow their natural ways... A true professional and a gentleman!
Wow, what a great set! I knew Steve was great, but Norton Buffalo had eluded my radar! What a player! I will be digging out my albums that he has recorded on!
You can tell Steve played in Chicago with Muddy and the Blues Men....I'm from Chicago Blues ...Silky Slim, bass/vocalist and played on the same scene he played on,..only a few years later than he !!!
Here's an interesting fact about Les Paul as recorded in Wikipedia: "In January 1948, Paul shattered his right arm and elbow among multiple injuries in a near-fatal automobile accident on an icy Route 66 west of Davenport, Oklahoma. Mary Ford was driving the Buick convertible, which plunged off the side of a railroad overpass and dropped twenty feet into a ravine. They were returning from Wisconsin to Los Angeles after visiting family.[25] Doctors at Oklahoma City's Wesley Hospital told Paul that they could not rebuild his elbow. Their other option was amputation. Paul was flown to Los Angeles, where his arm was set at an angle-just under 90 degrees-that allowed him to cradle and pick the guitar. It took him nearly a year and a half to recover."
DR.NNOO that piano shredder would be John Colianni, excellent pianist that was part of Les band in later years. He previously played for Mel Torme among others and Les was said to enjoy Johns rapid and fluid playing which put him in mind of Tatum.😎
I should think there will never be another like him, or even close enough for comparison. He truly was one of a kind, and the greatest harp player there ever was or ever will be. R I P Norton, you are sincerely missed...
Maybe Jimmy will play Freebird for you.your comment reminds me of a time I was in à cat house and an obviously section able twat was talking about dogs!!!
Blues are so lame. All the same fucking song. Been there done that. It's like a song stuck in their heads. I wish it never was wrote, because it is a stifle to creativity in my opinion. Many will disagree but I am right. Ha.
Sorry but setting aside the folksiness and laid back attitude with regard to any matrimonial excuses you are again left with the question as to why Les Paul is there? certainly not for any musical contribution. The band were great though in every respect.
Well, I'm going to go out on a limb here and say that Les is there because it's HIS PLACE, and Steve & Co., just as so many others have been, are his guests!!
It's obvious you don't play guitar, but if you want to know. Les is in his 90's and has advanced Arthritis, can barely bend his fingers. For him to go up there and play just shows his love and dedication to his music....

This speaks volumes for the character of Steve Miller. Quality way to honor a magnificent human being.
Absolutely agree!!
Les Paul was actually Steve's godfather.
Since nobody else has mentioned it. Les and his wife Mary Ford were close friends with Steve's parents, who were best man and matron of honor at Les & Mary's wedding. Les is Steve's Godfather.

Wow i would of never known. Steve was mean but Les took it like a man i wondered what was going on.
I loved when Les called Steve a rotten kid.

Could watch this all day long. So much talent in a fifteen-foot radius.
I'd say diameter

93 years! What a deal! God bless ‘em all! Music without end and timeless Les and Chet are still playing- only in Heaven
God Bless Les, thank you for all your innovations and creations that have inspired and created legends in the music biz.
All these years and I never knew Steve Miller has one of the best blues voices I've ever heard, and I've seen and heard some of the legends
Steve use to be in Buddy Guys Band
SM released an album "Born to be Blue" several years ago. A collection of classic blues tunes. Available on CD and well worth a listen.
Meh, he sounds like any other white guy trying to sing the blues.
Steve Miller is the real deal, right at the birth of rock n roll. T bone Walker showed him how to play along with Les at his house growing up. Most white artists learnt from records, Steve learnt from them in person.
Yeah Steve is really underrated as a blues singer but he's great. This is such a treat for me to watch!
Awesome to hear true musicians. Thanks for posting.
Wow..I missed this video! How great! The band with Les Paul!
Beautiful tribute to a legend. Les and Steve are the ultimate guitar virtuosos.
Love the harmonica player. Go man go
Amazing how Les was still actively playing, even in his 90's... and quick witted, too.
I like the way Steve Cropper threats this gig, so pro, so 'into it' , not stealing the show and just let's things flow their natural ways... A true professional and a gentleman!
YES! Steve is real Pro! What a great player..
That's not Steve Cropper, it's Kenny Lee Lewis from the Steve Miller Band.
Les Paul and The Miller Family are long time friends.
What an incredible set
This is magical!❤
Steve’s got a great voice.
Les, and the two steves! :) And Steve Miller hasn't lost at all any of his remarkable voice timbre! Very good band here !
Two legends from Wisconsin
Thinking… maybe pipe Les out loud these days across our loving WI & USA to bring everyone together .. 🎶🥲❤️
Lesis not only one of the greatest, he is hilarious to...Love that man
Sweet sounds, I really enjoyed that! Great harmonica too!! Thanks for sharing 🙂
I heard that Steve got his experience in Chicago blues before he blew our minds with his first 5 albums, which is all over the place.
Thank YOU💗 the best 🤗
All the performances on this video where great. but that last one with the harp player was the best I've ever heard.
Harp player with Steve was killin it, advanced blues.
the late, lamented Norton Buffalo
He, Buffalo Norton, I believe.
Don is that the great Norton Buffalo? I saw him once with Roy Rogers. The slide/ dobro guy. He's great.
Now that was nice!! Nice presentation, tastefully done.
...now this is a real treat since it is MY BD, and this happens to be one of my favorites//
Happy Belated Birthday!!!
Thank you Chris. This is awesome.
When Steve broke in, his band was The Steve Miller Blues Band.
Wow, what a great set! I knew Steve was great, but Norton Buffalo had eluded my radar! What a player! I will be digging out my albums that he has recorded on!
What a magnificent arrangement. :)
Awesome harmonica! He is my idol! Great!
You can tell Steve played in Chicago with Muddy and the Blues Men....I'm from Chicago Blues ...Silky Slim, bass/vocalist and played on the same scene he played on,..only a few years later than he !!!
I love them all
Really good. Thank you.
I think I maybe have watched this one before, but.. thanks for sharing!
the harp player is amazing so nice to see all these players together !!!! t/y for this post
Norton Buffalo was in Steve's band since start and passed away a bit ago..
Steve came from a musical family. He knew all the old timers when he was a kid.

JUST TO TOOOOOOO GOOD!
Amazing harp player.
I absolutely love Les's body language, I think he is impressed...maybe a bit confused, but impressed.
Les Paul is the most loveable guy in history. Jesus doesn't stand a chance.

@@ArielArkenax He was one of the greats......he passed away in 2009.
LiL' Stevie had some good influences - The gangster of love 💘 indeed ❗
Georgia on my mind
OMG that was Insane!!!!!!
Listening to this makes me fell like I need a cocktail.
They make it look so easy..
Les taught Steve how to play when Steve was just a kid..
Chet Atkins dragged me back LOL
Me too when I was trying to learn guitar my step dad made fun of me by saying"Mr.Chet Atkins can you make me a star".
Doesn't Steve sound like the Velvet Fog
You cannot see the piano player in the whole video and the guy is completely shredding lol!
DR.NNOO that piano shredder would be John Colianni, excellent pianist that was part of Les band in later years. He previously played for Mel Torme among others and Les was said to enjoy Johns rapid and fluid playing which put him in mind of Tatum.😎
sweet!!!!!!
When Les Paul is your Godfather what are you going to do but jam
Holy moly ! When Les Paul is in your wedding

Great piano too! Pity we can’t see him until Steve leaves the stage...

how old was Les in 2007 please?
92 years young
i love you Norton Buffalo=see ya later...
on of the best
When Norton was in Portland, OR he would ALWAYS get together with the also late-great Paul deLay at one club or another. Yes, I was ALWAYS there! 😃
I should think there will never be another like him, or even close enough for comparison. He truly was one of a kind, and the greatest harp player there ever was or ever will be. R I P Norton, you are sincerely missed...
I saw Les Paul at Les Shwab, having more fun. :o )
Steve Miller sounds like he could sing standards better than Bublé and all them, if he cared to.
" Ya know what that sounds like to me? It sounds like them cats in Borneo ... Yeah you know ... They wear those CD's in their bottom lips ..." Wow.
Norton Buffalo on harp :)
RIP
Jimmy Vaughn
Maybe Jimmy will play Freebird for you.your comment reminds me of a time I was in à cat house and an obviously section able twat was talking about dogs!!!
Give it up less you can't play any more
And I didn't mean that in a bad way he just needs to face reality
Blues are so lame. All the same fucking song. Been there done that. It's like a song stuck in their heads. I wish it never was wrote, because it is a stifle to creativity in my opinion. Many will disagree but I am right. Ha.
I find it relaxing at times. Came here for Steve Miller and got the band and Les Paul too! ❤
I saw Steve w/Boz in Berkeley, '68. They. Moved. Me. Steve played some Harp.
Sorry but setting aside the folksiness and laid back attitude with regard to any matrimonial excuses you are again left with the question as to why Les Paul is there? certainly not for any musical contribution. The band were great though in every respect.
He's there cause he's the great les Paul... Are you serious... He's 90 something ...you must not know much
Well, I'm going to go out on a limb here and say that Les is there because it's HIS PLACE, and Steve & Co., just as so many others have been, are his guests!!
It's obvious you don't play guitar, but if you want to know. Les is in his 90's and has advanced Arthritis, can barely bend his fingers. For him to go up there and play just shows his love and dedication to his music....
He was an impeccable host, you dip.
