Everyone is entitled to whatever they want to do, keep a collection sealed or opening them, for me as a collector it's much more satisfying to hold a collection in your hands play with it a little before you set it up for display, just reminding you of the good old days of when you played a toy as a kid, or if it's a toy you never had and finally as an adult you have it and by curiosity you want to open and touch the toy and feeling that nostalgia is something that truelly brings up a nostalgic value more than just keeping a toy sealed for the sake of "Value"...
If a toy means something to you the value is already high regardless if it's sealed or not so props to you for opening them I can sense a satisfaction In you to opening these toys and probably bringing you back to nostalgia of the 80s...

TODD M Thanks again. This collection took me almost 5 years to complete. I was looking for sealed but didn’t care how the card looked since I knew I was going to open them. Goal was just to have a new mint collection that I can experience opening each figure and get that sense of being a kid again.
I’ve had some feedback when I originally put out the video of people not liking me opening vintage figures. I’m still happy I did open them and when Im having a bad day I just walk past the display it just makes me feel good.

Otto Tarnowske Thanks man. So I did have Monsterous , Puzzler , and some of the Super Gobots when I started collecting. I decided to focus on Only the 3” carded ones numbers 1-72. This way it kept me on track. Plus they are all the same size and come together as a nice collection whearas Puzzler was a larger scale about 4.5” tall for each robot so it was like a deluxe transformer verse a legends transformer scale.

chesco Thanks. The truth is it took me years to collect sealed figures. The goal was to create a museum quality display. I would like to keep all their joints as tight and crisp as they are fresh out of the package.
I make zero money from RUclips views and even if I did, it wouldn’t be worth it to me to transform them. Too many years of hunting. I just want to appreciate them as a North American retail set behind glass. Every time I walk buy them it just takes me back to a similar time in life.

Cool collection. Blockhead and Crain brain’s arms extend out...if you didn’t already know.
I have a nice collection too. All mine are in the collectors cases. I lost count of how many of those collectors cases I have.
The hard figures for me to get (either hard to find or extremely expensive) was: Tail Pipe, Ace, Bullseye, Sky Jack, (these next few were hard to get and they were never released in the gobots toyline but they were in the machine robo line. They were later added to a gobots/transformers comic under these names) Jack Attack, Decker Decker, Apollo, (the next two were never part of the gobots line nor part of a gobots comic and they were never giving a gobot name but since they were machine robo, I got them) Jumbo Jet, Three Wheel Buggie, (the last few were just different colored version of a few characters, most likely knock offs) Green Twin Spin, Blue Street Heat, Green Gynner. I’m probably missing a few that was hard for me to get but that’s what I can remember.

    • @LotusStark
      @LotusStark  5 лет назад

Blue Jay I was trying to do as little as possible to move any of the limbs beside moving the left arm from upright position to a lower position after I remove from the card.
The collection for me is just to preserve a mint collection that is out of the package but not played with or transformed with the exception of moving the arm down.
As for Tail pipe he was released in the Gobots line on card in red which is the one I have and black which I think is harder to find than the red. Both versions will cost a lot in the hundreds of dollars range if you’re looking for sealed on card.
Ace, skyjack Bullseye were also released on card in the Gobots line as well. Out of the three Bullseye will be the most expensive followed by skyjack followed by ace.
This has been close to 5 years of collecting them to make a set meaning I have at least one representation of carded numbers 1-72 which I have opened to display. There are color variants which I didn’t concern myself with as long as I had one of them. Like you said it’s hard enough to have 1 tailpipe let alone both color variants.
I’m working on a custom case for them as well. The case I have them in now is weather strip sealed and works well.
I’m not sure how many people have a full numbered mint set maybe just you and I not sure. I’m just happy to have one of them.
I don’t read the comics, or was a big fan of the cartoon, but had more Gobots than I did Transformers so they mean a lot to me.
Thanks for the comment and it’s cool to meet another Gobots fan 👍

Transformers and Video Games Thanks M, yeah I just figured now is the time to open the rest and be done with it. Plus it is nice to see them all lined up next to each other.
Number 57 Tail Pipe was the most expensive costing me 300$ technically there is a black variant of him I don’t have and can’t find in all these years of hunting. I did find the black one but it was used and in poor shape so didn’t fit my criteria.
Poor Mr Moto. Yeah he’s funny in robot mode, but very cool in alt mode as a three wheeler.
Yeah I feel I could sell off everything else in my collection but this set just due to the time spent on hunting these down. Plus it’s a nice compact collection to have that only take up 2 of my Cabinets. Small foot print is always good when you’re a collector. 👍
I uploaded in 4K but youtube is not showing the 4K option. Maybe it takes time for them to still process. Wanted it to be my first 4K video oh well. I’ll check it tomorrow to see if the resolution options change.

Sorry I missed your comment. Thank you. I know this sounds boring and maybe not fun at all to have this type of collection, but I don't want to transform them as the joints are tight and there is a chance for the die cast to rub against the tight paint and chip off during transformation.
It was very hard for me to find all these sealed on card. Many people got mad at me for opening them saying there is one less carded figure of each character out there now.

I still have Turbo and my version of the Rolls Royce car is called TopHat not Tux. I have a knock off version of Dumper also.
Thanks for sharing showing all of these. It is always a battle between wanting to leave original or breaking them out and playing with them at least a couple times. Lol
I understand about wanting to keep figures MIB, i have most of my Marvel comics figures series' from over years since early 1980s still in boxes and sealed up inside crates, but im afraid the storage trailer has gotten too hot over the years and all my figures have been ruined due to the plastics chemically altering due to the heat.
I had loads of sci-fi movie and tv show figures(star wars, star trek, battlestar galactica, buck rogers) also but i let my parents give them away around the time i was in highschool in a phase of mine where i was all about change and getting rid of childhood stuff but not realizing until a few years later that ,damn, all those figures were worth a lot of money to the right people. Lol.
Idk, i kept all my various robots collection though, there was a lot more different weird off-brand robot themed toys in the late 80s into the 90s, but the toys were really cool designed.
I had some of the "Shogun Warriors" diecast figures, and also wished i had bought some of the first GoLion/Voltron/Diruegger? figures that were released under Voltron's in US. But they were pretty expensive at the time and i never got to get them.
I wish i kept all of my Micronauts toy vehicles i had and i never got the Baron Karza i wanted. Lol i did keep my Micronaut figures, the nice ones that didnt break to pieces due to the plastics cracking, like the Acroyear 2 figure. I kept his body parts around to use as spare parts i think for other figures.
I still remained into robots for some reason over the years, i guess from reading so much sci-fi books, and the Japanese Anime and sentimentality of old movies.
I always wished i could have afforded to buy Macross toys and RoboTech lines of stuff also as they were the ones like the Battleroids? Like the Valkyrie type that i always wanted but they were always too expensive. I did get some of the BattleTech mechs when they came out under that one toy series inthe 80s, itwas a odd blend up of RoboTech enemy characters , BattleTech mechs and the original series titled Exos or something, which featured humans in exoframe mechanical battlesuits.

      D. Aardentvarkitage Wow, now this is an excellent comment.
For me I had more Gobots than Transformers, but as a kid I didn’t care. I just liked the idea of something changing into a robot.
Yeah this collection took me many years to acquire. Early on I thought about keeping them sealed, but midway through collecting I started to open them. Now I never actually played with them, just opened with gloves on and placed in my display. In the end I’m happy I made the decision to open. I’ve gotten many critical comments telling me I shouldn’t have opened them because there are 1 less of each sealed figure on the market now. My reply is I wanted to experience that feeling of opening a fresh figure, but truly appreciating it instead of taking it outside to play in the dirt. I walk by my collection almost everyday and it just brings a smile to my face. Sounds like you collected many different toy lines too and love the idea of curating toys.

Great collection and display case. Consider a poster in the background to add to your display. Something Gobot related or with images of space and explosions. That would look pretty great. Thanks for sharing your collection. Jeeper Creeper was always my fav for some reason.

Christopher Ford Agree Chris, there are many variants especially in the European Robo Machine run. For me I made a decision to focus on one collection. Collecting the North American set you would find at stores like Toys r us, Walmart, and K-mart is what I set out to do. That’s really what this set is all about. Carded Numbers 1-72. Once I had them all I started to open them up wearing gloves to preserve them as a museum style Collection never to be Transformer, just appreciated as they were in robot mode.
I think you should do a video of your carded European Robo Machine or any Gobots for that matter. There are so many different ones it’s mind blowing actually. I’d love to collect them all, but it’s just too much at this point so I have to be happy with what I have.

    • @LotusStark
      @LotusStark  3 года назад +2

Kenstagram Unfortunately I don’t. This set took me years to complete. The idea and goal for me was to have a mint Gobots collection from 1-72. Transforming them would “loosen” joints and no longer be in a minty new condition. Believe me it’s hard to not pull them out and play with them.
So what I did was open them all wearing gloves and placed in a dust free cabinet exactly as they came out of the package. The only thing I moved was changing the position of the arm slowly to the down position.
I’m not sure, but I may be the only person who has a newly opened set from 1-72 that have not been transformed but nicely currated on display like a museum. Many Gobots collectors keep them sealed on card and won’t open them. When I opened them, had some people comment I shouldn’t have.
Hope this helps explain why I did what I did. 👍

Kenstagram truthfully I don’t think I will. Right now I’m working on rebuilding animatronic robots from ShowBiz pizza place which was around in the 80s. I have a ton of restoration work to finish.
My Gobots collection is very important to me as I had more Gobots than I did Transformers. I’m very content in just walking by the display and enjoying seeing them all lined up.
I feel if I made a video of each of them, people would complain that I’m not transforming them and not understand why.
I’ve had many loose Gobots in the past that I’ve fiddled with, but sold them all. You really have to experience opening a new one and feel how stiff the joints are and ask yourself is it worth it to mess around transforming this figure and ruin the feeling of it being new or just buy a cheap loose one to play around with instead.
I’ve collected toys for so long that I’m in a phase of just curating at this point. It sounds sad , but I feel it’s just part of my collecting journey. 👍

I recently bought two carded Night Rangers. I opened the one with the most battered card and kept the other one sealed. On the opened Night Ranger, it seems almost impossible to keep his front wheel (in vehicle mode) in the right place! I always end up cramming the wheel into the cavity between the metal foot-plates, but then the wheel doesn't turn. Are they all like this, is it just mine, or am I doing something wrong? I hope you can help!
