Did u get it to work yet? Some of the plates come with a film of them. I couldn't even see it. I thought I had removed it cause most that I ordered had blue film. It will not pick up anything if the plastic is still on. Just incase anyone else who reads is having same issue. Could be the film is still on. Best trick to see if it's still in. Run your nail over top of the plate. Over blank spot. The film should leave a run like panty hose get. If that doesn't work try s sharpie marker. Again away from designs. If it comes right off. It usually plastic. Some residue will be left by marker if you drawl on metal.

I got mine to work by going over it gently with my nail file then using a little bit of acetone to clean it off. Works like a dream now!
