    Various shots of the island of Portland. The island is so inaccessible that a small boat has to be hoisted onto a harbour wall by a hand-turned winch.
    Shots of the famous stone quarries. Brief shots of St Paul's Cathedral, the Cenotaph and Regent's Street in London, all of which contain Portland stone.
    Farmers at work harvesting crops. Shots of the lighthouse on Portland Bill. We see the wreck of an old ship sailing ship that is half buried in the sandy beach. Several shots of the jagged cliffs and coastline.
    At dusk we see the lighthouse turning round.
