i think the song was originally about a break up but soon after it was released, not too long before this show, one of the band members ( Paul Gray) died after an overdose. That's why this was so emotional for Corey. Slipknot is a very tight group who all pretty much grew up together so it was a big hit to the whole band. Since his death they often dedicate this song to Paul
Paul and Corey wrote it together just before he passed. Its difficult for Corey because he remembers both his best fucking friend, as well as a woman he loved deeply but didn't love him back. That kind of pain is so fucking hard to experience. The love of a brother who wrote one of you most popular songs with you but is no longer among the living, and a woman you still love but doesn't love you in return. Must be torture.
My interpretation of the "You couldn't hate enough to love" line is something along the lines of not being able to know happiness without having experienced sadness. Effectively you can't truely know or understand love if you haven't known hate because you don't know what it's like to be without love, and thus can never truely appreciate it while you have it.
Corey wrote this song about a female friend who helped him out through a tough period in his life. He felt strongly for her however she didn’t feel the same. Paul Gray, Slipknots base player convinced Corey to write the song. Paul later died so the song has taken on a very different significance for Corey. Their next album was called .5 The Gray Chapter and is predominately dedicated to Paul.
This song is one of the best live experiences especially with corey playing acoustic guitar while the fans singing along and hearing the emotion in corey voices gives it a complete different feel to the album version 🖤🤘
I'm sure people have told you, but this song was originally about a bad breakup, then Paul passed, and Slipknot and all us maggots lost a brother, a friend, a father figure, someone who meant a lot to all of us, and of course to Corey Taylor... This became a tribute to our brother, that's why Corey says it's just a hard song to get through
Great reaction! Corey really struggles when he performs this song. There are actually yt videos in which he did cry during singing it. Greetings from Germany
Great reaction! Love how you guys actually listened to the lyrics. This song was written about dark times in Corey's life involving a woman. The song was written with lot of help from his best friend Paul Gray of Slipknot. Corey has said he never would have released this song had it not been for Paul's support and pushing him. This single was also the last released before Paul died. Corey has since and forever dedicated this song to his best friend Paul which is where even more emotion comes from. He would break down singing and the crowd would sing for him which is why you hear them in the background. RIP brothers PAUL and now JOEY 🤘 We love you guys and thank you for everything 🤘🤘🤘
This song...... I listened to this over and over when I was going through something a few years back, The music video version is more moving in my opinion. (Maybe that's Just because it's the version I played on repeat)
Hello guys, pls react to song called 'dady' by Korn, its most emotional than any other song the vocalist breaks down before song ends..lyrics are pretty disturbing even there's warning given just before the song starts..the vocalist having hard time.
I personally think that the biggest mistake from reactors is the fact they feel the need to have to constantly vocalize their reaction to every single that happens. I kind of wish more people just listened to the song and then gave their comments afterwards. Idk maybe it's just me.

"It took the death of hope to let you go." Gets me every single time - so much more powerful than simply _losing_ hope

Sings it with all his heart
One of my favourites. Corey is a great musician :)
This cover should be the official one, I like it better than the studio recording. 🤘
Cover???
@@BRDNYT Obviously, it is an adaptation, it is not the original with all the complete instruments and the respective mixes ... that's called a cover
@@matthewcardenaslima4802 I would call this an acoustic version...

How does one cover their own song?
I love this performance cory just takes you on a rollercoaster of emotions you can feel his emotions with every lyric he sings
One of my favorite live performances ever. Yeah it's his solo tour. He's so amazing with these kind of songs.

You guys are awesome love your channel and love yous two from Newcastle Upon Tyne UK with love keep up the good work 👏
You can see the moments he almost breaks down crying
This song was the pinnacle of the album " The Grey chapter" which was based off of Paul's passing
This song is Corey 's song. That's how it is so great.
Listen to the original version of this.
I recommend it with lyrics so you can see and follow along with the "Slipknot" version.
I think one of the reasons the song is hard for him is because it was Slipknot's late bassists favorite songs.
Rest in peace Paul and Joey🤘

Gotta check out Vermillion, parts 1 and 2 from Slipknot. 2 Is a lot slower than part 1 but they both hit hard lol.
