Outstanding video. Most RUclips comparisons beat around the bush so much they don't really answer the question, but your comparison was direct and to the point. Thank you. After watching I decided to go with the 4K Cube. For slightly more it looks like some future proofing. Again, thanks for a great video.
Thank you for a video straight to the point. I would add: any fire stick can be controlled by the TV's remote through HDMI-CEC and by voice through any Alexa speaker, therefore its remote can be ignored if you have an Echo dot in the same room.
Great review, just one question, well maybe two. I still use the 1st gen firetv box. I have 4k tvs, , and a terribly slow internet 6mb DSL. I don't care about the Alexa. Would I notice speed/quality improvements going to the 4k stick? And is the Brand New 1080 Stick Amazon came out with better than the 4k stick (minus 4k of course). I have no idea if a 4k stick is worth it when I have such a slow internet connection. Thanks
Thank you for your feedback. Yes you will see an improvements upgrading to 4K stick. The new 1080 Fire Stick is about the same as the 4K minus the 4K resolution. With your internet speed now, I would recommend you go with the 1080 Fire TV Stick Here is a little side note for recommend internet speed 5 Megabits per second - Recommended for HD quality (1080) 25 Megabits per second - Recommended for Ultra HD quality (4K)
Thank you very much! You're right I didn't mention it because there's no improvement in Wi-Fi speed since the 2018 model - I was hoping for a Wi-Fi 6 speed improvement.
Thank you for this video, very good presentation of their differences and similarities. By the way, thus the 4K stick works exactly the same as the 2020 1080p version, even if you would use it on devices that support only fullHd 1080 p? Will the 4K version be slower in that situation or just the same, minus only the 4K resolution?
Few facts you left out in a decision. Expandable memory can be added to 4K. But Lite is lightning fast. I would compare Lite over 4K just for speed. My findings are, Lite stick even loads applications fater then 4K. As you said you lose mute and TV volume controls. But pound for pound Lite, budget wise is half the cost and I believe a faster stick.
I'm new to these Fire Sticks... What is the difference from what I have like Playstation 3 or Sony Bluray with most of the popular apps?.. Will I get "free" streaming from those apps or does one have to get a subscription to view content as one would with those other devices I mentioned...
@@sting64az no, the only things you have to pay for would be the individual subscriptions to the apps you use like netflix for instance. But if you were to use RUclips or any other free content sites/apps those don't cost anything to use on the first stick. Once you pay for the stick you don't pay amazon for any subscriptions or anything to use it unless you want to.
Yes. From what I heard too is that the 4k is more complicating to plug in a external drive. because you have to do all this other stuff. Where the lite. it's already formatted. To me. I'm more into storage than 4k. I don't really watch 4k movies. but do want my stick to be smooth and fast Downloads. and storage. And im going to use the remote I got with the 2nd generation with the lite. So I'm good.
@@samuelugh5729 I just got the Google Chromecast with google tv and its amazing. It does literally everything these can and more! It's insanely better.
Thanks for the clear video. It'll be the 4k model to replace our 5+ year old FTVStick AND hopefully solve the terrible green/pink screen problems with the recently bought Chromecast Google TV which is going back to the store!
Im planning to buy only the fire stick lite itself without the remote because I have an old fire remote with the volume and power button. Can I still pair the remote ?
Best explanation, Clear and Concise without the flannel or hype which is sometimes so time wasting and tiring when you just need some info, Thanks for your time in doing this mate!
I bought the Firestick Lite but I’ve been having issues downloading live tv apps off a filelink. I get a message saying “a valid email is required for access.” I’ve checked all settings and they are correct. I noticed the Developer Options is different on the Lite. Might just go get a 4 K. Never had issues before getting the Lite.
So if I have an older plasma tv that doesn't support 4K it will work? Will the picture still be clear even though the tv doesn't support what the fire stick can produce?
We just bought a 75" LG and I don't like the LG WebOS because of the response time and you can't get HBO or IMDB so I connected the Firestick 4K form the old TV but my wife says it doesn't makes sense with a new smart TV and we should bring it back. I told her you are limited in TV selection with those with built in Fire OS TV's.
I personally don't really use the media software that comes built into the TV, I always us a media streaming devices, because I can do so much more. So I would say it does make sense. I bought a Vizio TV for my kitchen and the software is so slow, once I hook up the external media player, it made a world of difference.
@@ChardTheTechGuy I agree. I worked IT for the past 25 years and get it but most who buy a brand new smart TV expect it to have all apps available and function flawlessly out of the box. It just isn't the case.
You can still get the 4K version if you like, it will still work and just in case decide to get a 4K YV in the future. Otherwise get the other versions to save some money.
A 4k smart tv should already have some sort of operating system that can install most of these apps on it's own. If you don't like how your tv handles this, then you can try a 4k fire stick.
