I appreciate that you didn’t edit out the times when you encountered a little difficulty getting those springs connected when installing the pipe. Excellent DIY video!
It was a little bit of a wrestling match. I am not here to mislead anyone or make it look like something is super easy when it’s not. Thanks for watching!
Ordered my kit for my 17 RTL last week and received it Thursday, installed it this morning without the baffle and left the original exhaust. Love the way it sounds. Very throaty growl and I noticed there was some burbling when my SE6 was down shifting when stopping for a light. Glad I saw your video before I installed this as I probably would have put the baffle in. Glad I found your video. Everyone ride safe.
So found your video on the rear wheel change. It was great as mine exploded (to many miles all was safe). Saw you comment on less heat with the Cat Delete and was able to find it from Baldwin Ironworks on sale for $79 and it will be here this week. Glad to have found this because like you I was going to keep the baffle in but after your comments at the end it will not be installed. Still working my way through the rest of your videos. Thank you for the time and effort in making them. Terry, Central TX, 2021 RT LT.
The Baldwin Iron Works product is a fine piece. I used the included baffle in the muffler end of the pipe, leaving the cap in the perforated tube, but drilling a 1/4 inch hole in the center of it. Perf tube toward the engine. In the other end, I used a Big City Thunder QBL-1845. I did have to shorten it, and mounted it cone side toward the engine. Noise is only slightly more than stock, and got rid of 18 pounds and the hot box.
Good day sir I installed the Cat Delete on my 17 RT and it fit great, the bike lost 8 lbs and sound great without any baffles, my wife says she likes the sound and does not bother her so bonus.
I stopped by Baldwin's shop last fall on my way to the Ozarks. He built me a pipe, installed it and shipped my OEM cat back for the $200 cost. He is a class guy, and his work is meticulous. He does recommend baffle in/plug off for best combo of sound/performance, but like you, I'll be removing the baffle this week and try it that way. Heck, I rode it 6k miles with the baffle in :)
Jeff Cunningham We are going on another short trip soon, so I just put my baffle back in, no plug, after about 5,000 miles. I prefer no baffle for the way it sounds, my wife prefers the baffle in, I am just trying to find the best performance.
@@ItsYoursOWNIT OK, excuse me for being a little slow but what is the plug? The baffle is the insert in the front of the pipe. What then is the 'plug'? BTW - I'm not a loud exhaust guy. The Harleys that I ride with make enough noise and so I stay in front of them ('19 rtl).
There is a plug with a set-screw that fits in the end of the baffle so the three different “settings available are 1: no baffle, just a straight pipe. 2: baffle installed. or 3: Baffle with the plug installed in the end of it.
Great work on the mods you do, ride a 17 RT Limited and just ordered one of these thanks to your info, I believe like you say the biggest improvement is the heat issue.
CoachBob3, Thank you for the compliment, I am no “expert” though, just a normal guy who likes working on my own stuff. I do like helping others gain the confidence to do some of their own wrenching. My wife needs some credit. If she was nicer to me, I wouldn’t spend nearly as much time in my shop. 😂😂 I may have to delete part of this comment if she sees it though. Thanks for watching

I put a Cat Delete S Pipe and RLS muffler (very loud) and it blew the plug out of the baffle. Definately feel the difference. And alot cooler riding .. Im in Tampa.. 2019 F3 Limited. oh and the big difference is the weight.. original cat, muffler weigh a ton
Well got the Sheild installed. Does it job ok but not super happy. Kinda small, buffeting badly. Bounces my prescription glasses around like crazy. If I wear some of my other sun glasses it’s fine.
Great install ... I've got the Lamonster Cat Delete S Pipe with a Can Opener Baffle Similar to yours! Like you said ... You need some back pressure or you'll loose Mid-Range. If you're interested check out the ... RLS Cat Delete for The 1300. It comes with a Resonator & has a Really Nice Chrome Finish ... The Resonator gives it a Deeper Note! Ryde safe brother 👍😁🤘🙏 Beanie
BeanieBoyMoto, I kept the stock muffler and took the baffle out completely. It still is not too loud and I haven’t noticed any mid range lag, but I assume it is because I still have the OEM muffler. I saw those RLS pipes and have wondered how they would sound. I don’t think my lovely passenger would put up with anything louder than I have now though. I did send my ECM to Wick-It performance to get a Stage 1 Monster Fuel Injection flash this winter. I can definitely tell the difference but am a little disappointed that I still can’t pull a wheelie. 😂 J/K I will know for sure if this was all worth it the next time I am going 80mph, riding two up, pulling my trailer uphill and see if I can hold the speed limit. I’ll keep you posted. 🤙
@@ItsYoursOWNIT Yeh that's what I should do ... Get the ECM Flashed! I put the Akrapovic Chrome Straight Shot Silencer on mine ... As the name implies it's Straight through No Baffle! I love your Maintenance vlogs bro ... Keep em comin! 🤘😁👍🙏
So, buddy, I have a 14 RTL, and wondered after just changing the Cat Del., and staying with stock exhaust, did you find any differences? Fuel Milage? Performance?
Well, I didn’t just do a Cat delete. I also sent my ECM in to Wick-It Performance and got a stage 1 tune done from Monster Fuel Injection this winter. I normally get 34 to 40mpg (40 is rare), and 30 to 38 pulling my trailer. The main reason I did these two things is to get better performance pulling my trailer at interstate speeds. Due to the plague, I haven’t had the opportunity to do this yet to see if it handles 80mph, uphill, into a headwind better than it did. I have only put about 500 miles on so far this spring and have got 32mpg so far not pulling the trailer, but I have been pretty liberal with my right hand 😎. I don’t really care about a drop in fuel mileage if the performance is better when pulling my trailer at high speeds. Time will tell , hopefully we can start traveling and camping sooner than later. Thanks for watching.
If you’re a believer in back pressure don’t do anything that helps increase flow! Back pressure reduces flow which reduces power! Take an engineering fluid dynamics class and learn that engines don’t like backpressure!
Good job but I don’t like the sound. These engines just don’t produce a good exhaust note no matter the exhaust. Maybe you pick up some performance and you reduced the weight. Thanks for posting!
No I don’t. It is louder but not obnoxious. An aftermarket muffler would be an option if the delete pipe isn’t enough for you. Honestly, I believe the biggest plus with this pipe is how much heat is done away with by getting rid of the cat. That thing was like having a campfire underneath you.
@@ItsYoursOWNITI don't ask because I want a noisier exhaust, but on the contrary, because my old neighbor jumped like a kangaroo over the fence to tell me to play the music slower from a Harman Kardon portable speaker, and at 6.30 in the morning it wouldn't be too pleasant to I wake her up. and in UK noise limit from bikes/trikes is arround 80 db. thanks

Thanks for the video. I plan to do mine as well. I'm going to wrap my pipes to help to keep the heat down some. Love your content. 😊

Great post, always enjoy you working on your Spyder.

Back pressure is never needed or wanted . The ability to change air\fuel ratio is needed with any flow modification . thanks for posting .
Just done mine tonight! That top spring is a pain. Got a exhaust system combing from lamonster
It is a tough one.

I suggest placing the pipe clamp fastener up and away from the road so as not to hang up on or get hit . ? Think fighter jet tailhook .

I have a 2022 Can Am Spyder RT Limited doing this mod does it void your warranty?
now send in that ECU in for remapping and really unlock the power. Did it on my F3 and it made a big diff..
I did actually do that this winter! Looking forward to the results.
What effect does removal have on the engine
Thanks for the video.
Soooo can we hear it without the baffle? I’m thinking of doing this for my wife’s RTS but am leery if I’ll get the sound we’re looking for.
Do you have to use the baffle in it does it change the running of the Eileen performance

How did you lift your spyder in the rear. thank you
I run the front tires up on ramps and then use a floor jack right in front of the catalytic converter to lift
No need for any computer changes?
No, the bike automatically adjusts to the “new environment”
Is it made out for 300 series stainless steel?
I am not sure.
@@ItsYoursOWNIT If a magnet sticks to it then you have 400 series. If the magnet does not stick it will be 300 series.
Ok, I checked. The bent or curves have very little magnetism, (maybe from the welding process?), the straight part of the pipe has none.
