I know poor Kira. She was such a talented girl. The music by the way is a very interesting version of Chopin's prelude no 20 in C minor.
I find this program exceptionally interesting and cutting edge.

Я Кира , меня в свое воемя отдали заниматься в ЦСК на фигурное катание. , был 85 год , и я както сразу встала на коньки, и стала кататься, подавала большие надежды, и все в шутку стали называть меня Кира Иванова, а я обижалась, и говорила - Я не Иванова, я Лукашова, потом меня отдали в музыку на фортепьно, там я и осталась. СЧИТАЮ Киру одной из талантливоющих фигуристок 20 века! Очень жаль, что жизнь её так трагчна! ❤

I agree. I thought there were at least two occasions at major competitions when Ivanova performed much better programs than Witt. People (incl. Dick Button and Toller Cranston) kept on saying she was boring and she had no choreography, but I still think that her choreography, strong edging, and good jumps were captivating, and I found this program to be conceptually sensational.
Thanksgiving forma your comment, totally agree with you, Scott Hamilton never had nohing good to say about Kira at one point he called her a robot, most of the commentators were very hard at her.
What was better about this exactly? She made only 2 triples to 3 for Witt, and had fewer double axels too. And artistically both programs were just ok, not great.
And I did find a couple of Ivanova's shorts conceptually sensational and underrated, particularly her 87 worlds short which I might have placed 1st and the judges placed 6th (she had lost her rep then after almost 2 years of inconsistent and subpar skating post 85 worlds though), and her 84 short program, but all her long programs were meh, just ok, artistically. If that, some weren't even that.
@@joelmolina702 Well Hamilton was good friends with Witt, Kadavy, Thomas, Leistner (he knew her well from the 82-84 tours), I think even with Manley, Chin, and some of the other girls that Ivanova competed with. He even was friends with Anna, the other top Soviet, I believe. He didn't dislike Kira but had no relationship with her, in fact she was shy, had lots of personal problems, and rarely interacted outside her own circle. That explains his bias, she was a competitor of many of his "friends" for medals, and she was not his friend.
yes, she was an alcoholic. her grandma raised her since her parents were alcoholics aswell. she did very well in skating, but sadly genetics took over, and she was stabbed to death, which is still the unsolved crime. RIP, Kira, thanks for your skating
Her only sister completed suicide in 1994 and Kira suffered two divorces. RIP.
I read that Kira Ivanova was murdered a couple of years ago? How tragic!

Katarina Witt won the figures, placed 4th in the short program and won the free skate (0.6 + 1.6 + 1.0 = 3.2).

I don't think so (sadly cause I cannot stand Katharina Witt who has always been treated too well by the judges).
Её тренер совсем не поставил ей руки, корпус, не дал никакой хореографии, на международной арене одна, обречена, и видно В .Ковалев её оставил...
