Is it really not enough that mages have to allocate healing charges just to maintain a damage threshold that melee builds effectively get for free? imagine having to allocate healing flasks for STAMINA regeneration. Especially considering melee builds often get equally as effective ranged options, like bows which they can literally hold THOUSANDS of arrows worth of ammunition between the different categories, and if they run out they can always just CRAFT MORE on the fly, bows that give you the ability to more precisely free aim your shots than you can with spells by the way. In a game where you'll be fighting 200+ ms people most of the time, a build that can be countered simply by spamming rolls on high latency is not viable (in those scenarios at least, which can constitute for 60% of your encounters). Can you mix-up low-latency regular pvers with a pure mage build and completely destroy them? Yeah, of course you can. I look at invasions, what do I see ? Heafty pots, golem arrows, aoe ashes at every turn against 200+ ms people. Big hitboxes and burst damage will always be useful, and they're not the height of skill expression... a good 80% of people will die. Idk why you bring tourneys, the polar opposite of invasions where half the game is banned including every good invasion option...
@@glatykoffi6672 Because he mentioned it in another comment. And the difference is that Hefty Pots and Golem Arrows need no stat requirements. AoE Ashes usually have hyper-armor to trade and secure hits (such as waves of Darkness). They're considered better for a reason.
I’ve played as faith strength builds, dex faith builds, quality builds, and yet the one build that consistently dominates in pvp has always been my mage character. Spell blade combos and mix ups with projectiles and melee. Of course when you have a mage that actually knows how to fight you are definitely up against a formidable enemy!

Still, always fun to see good mage plays. Have a good day.
@@OnlyWaifuYT Hey i really appreciate the comment. Yea i see what you’re saying, i just dont experience too many latent players on ps5 all that often (not saying i never do) I really just made the video to show how they can work pretty well in invasions if you have some good spell mix ups going.
I keep coming back to Int-Faith combo-focused omnicasting. It started with the “oh I wonder how difficult it is to use magic only, no melee” and it turns out it’s totally possible and super fun - even at lower levels you wouldn’t think of at first.
ok, wth. I didn't expect to be hit with that Code Vein nostalgia right at the start... Give a girl a warning.... jeez
@@Red_Lycoris1309 Code vein had such a good ost
@@stevie31 Yeah! The endings made me cry tho...
Who is sayimg this? As far as I remeber didnt the whole Elden Ring community hate mages and call them no skill n shit? Mind you, im notvsaying this myself just confused
OnlyWaifu had made a video saying that mages weren’t good in invasions and pvp.
Not hating on him, he has good info in alot of his videos, but the examples he shows in his mage video could have been better.
@stevie31 Goated for giving me context. Also thats a really odd take from Only Waifu. It could be rage bait but that is weird. Have a good one btw
Cool video but no one who has any idea what they're doing has ever said mages arent viable
Nobody is saying that stevie
😭😭
They are
@@adrianhuerta4277 They are. Quite a few people are saying this actually.
@@stevie31 they are nobodies stevie
@@adrianhuerta4277 I know lol but it makes a good title
"Mages aren't viable" is the call of people angry spamming basic missile spells from maximum range didn't give them the saame results as PvE does.
Are the people that say "mages aren't viable" in the room with us?
@@Pepello84 A few of them maybe
Actually inspiring g fuckin g’s 🤙🏻
I play at 150 and I can’t pull that damage out of a greatsword
Many people downplay magic builds, but they are very good for invasions for sure, because of the high burst damage. In duels against competent people, completely not viable. And in pve everything from bare fists to greatshield only is viable.
