    I completed my 3uz/w58 swap in my MK3 Supra for around $3500. I do all my own work so the cost is way cheaper than farming it out.

    I can't wait to see the 440 swapped in the Satellite, your going to be amazingly surprised at the difference! All you should need is a big block bell housing and manifolds or headers, you can use the flywheel off the 318 and the rubber small block motor mount pads on the 440 mounts. You should be good with the radiator if it had air conditioning, probably already has the 26 inch one. And you will end up needing things like alternator brackets and pulleys if you don't have them.

      I would not put a small black Chevy in a supra. If I was to put an American made engine in there would be a third generation hemi. Australians have perfected the 1uz platform.

    As an owner of a 91 GTE, I am enjoying this series from the build. If I happened upon another mk3 for cheap, the 1uz would be a long term goal. Unfortunately, nearly every hidden problem has presented itself with the current mk3 and thus it will be a while lol

    Not sure if you're still reading comments, but I've seen a number of people using the Nissan CD009 6 speed for Lexus manual swaps, and I was wondering if it would fit in this particular swap. Just letting my imagination go wild for now, but it would be cool to know your thoughts. If it does, that would be awesome because they're affordable, they shift great, and they hold a good bit of power off the shelf (Not to mention 6 gears).

    • @LunarOutlawsGarage
      @LunarOutlawsGarage  Год назад

      I don’t know the specific dimensions but the layout between the Lexus SC 400 and this is very similar so I don’t see why it wouldn’t fit. With project like this where I put 430 gears in an extra gear would’ve been nice. Back in the day the R154 transmissions were pretty cheap not anymore.

    • @LunarOutlawsGarage
      @LunarOutlawsGarage  2 года назад +1

      6k is definitely possible but big part of it is what you start with. If you already have a manual turbo car other then a rebuild and upgrade of the R154 that will cut the cost dramatically. This Supra started its life out as an automatic and I was off on how much r154s are currently going for. I look it up last night and they went from $2400 to 3-4000 over the past year. That said you are going to pay a lot for a clean manual turbo car right now.

    Oh I can believe 5 figures for a good Supra of that vintage...last time I looked for 1 just out of curiosity was maybe 20 years ago, and that owner wanted 10k. And now you want to put the Satellite into orbit via a 440? If your wallet wasn't bruised enough, it will be w/this - especially when you want to make real power. If you end up with a smog era 440, you have to know that it has been neutered(smog controls, lower compression, etc.). Time to consult experts before you open the wallet😁
