It seems like people that have weddings at a plantation either want only certain people to attend or want people to be uncomfortable.
Nah, I am in the deep South and people that plan events at these places have been Gone With The Wind brainwashed, have no education about the past and no empathy for people who were harmed then and who are harmed now because of slavery. They want the white people pretty picture of the time long gone, not the reality.

I'm from the pits of Alabama and I have to agree, a lot of white people here are in love with that "old time southern charm" even if it wasn't a charming time for black people. I used to help this older white lady who was very kind to me, even bought me things. Her house was full of beautiful vintage decor and art, but you could definitely tell what era she was in love with just by looking at it. Her house had late 19th/early 20th century vibe to it. So it didn't surprise me that she had black face figurines in her kitchen ( one literally being a mammy figurine holding a limp child, which very well could've symbolized a dead slave child but idk).She was sweet as pie but definitely had that oblivious Gone With The Wind mindset going on.
