The origami swan is a symbol of everlasting love because swans mate for life.
Also, if you have one-sided paper and you fold with the print on the outside after the first fold of this process, you get mostly a white swan. The print will be on only the tail. Otherwise, if you fold it with the print on the inside after the first fold, everything except the tail will be colored with the print.

Don't thank somebody whose instructions suck and were confusing. It didn't need to be this difficult and confusing. A truly good teacher takes their time. Holds things up so you can see what they're doing, each and every step. Does NOT combine two and three folds into one. And does NOT block things with their fingers. I see too many nicey-nice people in these comments who majorly struggled with this but blame themselves and thank and bow down to this guy anyway.

Yup. This dude moves way too fast with the more complex folds towards the end. That's my major complaint. Slowing it down to .25 speed shouldn't be the answer. He needs to just take that extra 3-4 seconds towards the end with the more complex folding and consider his audience.

Great video, thanks. It would be helpful to know which side of the origami paper you should start with facing up, in case you are using coloured paper only on one side. After a general Google, I started with the white side up. In this case, that was wrong. So, start with the white side down for this one. EDIT: I should mention that it doesn't completely work, as some of the white part sticks out at the end.

You shouldn't support something that isn't able to properly teach you. There are major issues with this vid - namely, he moves way too fast with the more complex folds, sometimes combining multiple folds together too quickly so the viewer doesn't realize what he just did. And he's not always showing things from the best angles, aimed more towards the camera. And sometimes his fingers are blocking things. The problem isn't you, it's this vid. I was able to make the design happen, but not without some struggle, and that was due to the poor methodology of the instructions. I posted my constructive criticism feedback and gave it a thumbs down. He needs to do better.
