This was my first bike as a kid in 1981. Seeing this brings back some good memories
Same same.
Same same same
Yes, the same for me.
I just picked that exact bike up and am in process of restoring it..
You can tell Ken really loves this one. The way he talked about riding one as a kid, while caressing the seat and rear fender 😀
That’s my childhood right there! I first craved a 1974 XR75 but then I discovered 2-strokes. My parents never would buy me the XR, and so I bummed rides on these - SEVERAL friends with Yamaha GTMX80s in my neighborhood - and then I finally saved up enough money and also sold my POS Montgomery Ward mini-bike, and when my mother divorced my father and moved me to another state (he was the real reason I wasn’t getting a bike), I finally got a YZ80 in 1979, and just built up from there...
i think im the only one that gives a thumbs up before the video even starts
I'm with you on that one. Auto thumbs up.
My very first bike 1980 got on my 12th birthday summer of 79 four speed all up thanks for the video brings back crazy memories

great fun little bikes
I have a Yamaha MX80 1982, it's in perfect condition, owned it since brand new.
That would make a great learning bike for a young first-time rider! 😎👍
Or a 53 year old motorcycle icon.
That's a nice piece!! I remember looking at one back in the mid '70's at Daly City Yamaha it retailed for $475 new. A friend of mine had a '74 it was silver we rode it everywhere!! First bike I ever rode with a manual clutch and 4 speed trans.... All up!! Great memories!! Thank you!! Keep the great work!!
My buddy from Junior High had an MX-80. Had so much fun trail riding in the woods behind his his house. I had a 1980 XR-80 and he had the MX-80. I will never forget that metal front fender, the sight hole for the oil, and definitely that cool metal gas gap. Good memories, these guys do such good work......Kaplan America 🤘🇺🇸
That was my 2nd bike. Exactly. Same year/color. Loved that bike!
Nice! My first bike was a 1978 GT80. It was about 2003, I begged my parents for a dirt bike and eventually my dad caved and found one of these for 300 bucks. I thought it was the best thing ever until the next year when I got a KX60 and obviously it was a whole different ball game! My dad flipped that KX60 over backwards the one time he rode it trying to show off to my grandmother. Thanks for bringing back great memories!
2nd bike i ever owned was a GT80 (7yrs old). 1st was a italjet50 (3yrs old). Takes me back to being a kid again watching your vids. Way cool!
This is the bike I first learned to ride on. First bike I learned to use the clutch. Before that it was Sears style Briggs and Stratton mini-bikes.
My very first bike was the same. Brings back many memories.
My first and one of the best bikes I've owned. Thank you for sharing.
wow, My best friend got one of those brand new back around 80-82.. It was a cool bike, but my 81 Suzuki DS80 had it's number.. :-) That's like going back in time. Super fun times..
Awesome! I learned on that exact model back in 1980. So cool!
My first bike. God I’d love to have that WOOW
Sweet bike guys
Just awesome watching THOR on a dirt bike, oh wait, that’s a mx80. Just awesome!
I like to see the Kaptain carrying heat!!!
After I out grew my Z-50 this was the exact bike I got. Had alot of fun times on that thing.
Thanks, for keeping this channel as clean of bad words as you can God bless y’all 🙏💯💯
i had this bike in 1995 @ 10 years old. Used to rip the neighborhood all the time!
I almost had one of these back in 1980. It was between the MX and the YZ and luckily my father splurged for the YZ. Great vintage bike though!
GTMX80A was my first trail.bike
They were good days !
I remember sitting on one of those brand new at Ralph Strongs Yamaha when I was a kid. I was short for my age and I could touch the ground on the 100 but not the moto crossers. The YZ 80 was just a little too tall for me. LOL
back in 1972 i so badly wanted the yellow gt 80 street and trail but we were kawasaki people and my dad bought me a dynomite! thats a kv 75.
I had a mx80 just like that loved it
My brother had a mx175 I think ours was 82 or 83

My first bike was a 1982 yzinger and then my Dad got me a 1981 mx100 when I was twelve! Then a 1976 mr175then 14 I got a 1973 RT360
Nice Bike It's an Old Yamaha 80
The first actual motorcycle I had was 74 MX80. I got it in 1976. Payed 100.00 for it. Even as new as it was then, it was nowhere as nice as this one.
Where do the thumbs down come from. Would love to know who and for what reason. Anyway, I love your vids that is a super cool little bike
Will make some kid or collecter super happy. You guys rock👍🇺🇸
Man thats clean
The fenders did that my dad put Preston Petty many muders on my mini Enduro cut a little bit on the front fender off the bottom but that piece went on my BMX bicycle behind the banana seat and that was pretty cool

Amazing, if I give you my 2002 XR70R in perfect condition will you give me a shout out? The XR70R I have is in pure mint condition besides a scrape mark in the rear fender from wheelies, I have not looped it I just slam the rear brake down when I get 180 degrees up lol.
Sure, why not
