  • Jörg Wolfgang Demus (2 December 1928 - 16 April 2019) was an Austrian classical pianist who appeared internationally and made many recordings. He was also a composer and a lecturer at music academies. In composition and playing, he focused on chamber music and lieder. He played with singers such as Elisabeth Schwarzkopf and Dietrich Fischer-Dieskau, as a piano duo with Paul Badura-Skoda, and with string players such as Josef Suk and Antonio Janigro. Demus was instrumental in bringing the historic fortepiano to concert podiums. He was a member of the Legion of Honour, among many awards. He is regarded as one of the leading Austrian pianists of the immediate post-World War II era. #beethoven #piano #classicalmusic #pianosonata #piano #jorgedemus #classicalmusic

I love this little sonata very much, and Demus's sensitive rendition makes it sound like a much more mature, important work!! What a touch, and so many beautiful colors. He can make the piano sing!!

This is the first Beethoven sonata I’ve ever heard but I didn’t know it was Beethoven. Today I saw this video and this brings back memories thank you ❤

Beautiful. The way it ends is so tender and a little bittersweet. I don't think you can write music like that if you've never been in love (in a good way or a painful way).

I heard a motif from the pathetique 3rd. Love to hear those references that were there from the beginning

Beginning sounds like Sonata No 32. Arietta jazz section

Someone should write a third movement to finish this sonata.
